Sometimes it's all about the right tool for the job – which you'll perhaps appreciate if you've ever tried to make a hiking daypack do double-duty as a biking pack. Specially designed for the demands of gravel and mountain bikers, the women's Raven 14 from Osprey is an incredibly well-thought-out bit of kit – with a bike-specific winged harness and airmesh wrap hipbelt for unbeatable stability. Primarily a hydration pack, it comes with an Osprey Hydraulics LT 2.5-litre reservoir, and they’ve also thrown in a handy removable tool roll. For a compact pack, the Raven will carry a surprising amount of stuff. There's a LidLock attachment for your helmet, while the side compression straps will also take a full-face helmet and knee pads. The sunglasses pocket is big enough to accommodate a pair of goggles, and there's space inside for an e-bike battery and charger. The Raven is a women’s pack with a female-specific fit – if you’re looking for the men’s version, you’ll want the Raptor 14.

The Osprey story started in California in the 1970s, with one man, a sewing machine and a vision to make the world’s best outdoor packs. Today, it’s one of the most recognisable rucksack brands.
