12-15” tall x 18” wide. If you don’t have room for traditional, blousy Provence lavenders, why not try ‘Thumbelina Leigh,’ a compact English lavender which produces violet-blue spikes of blooms twice during the growing season? What you sacrifice in size, you certainly won’t sacrifice in bloom or fragrance, nor will you notice a difference in the amount of pollinators present! ‘Thumbelina Leigh’ is a great choice for containers, and used as a low edging can provide a formal aspect to a smaller garden or patio. It’s drought tolerant once established and requires a sunny spot with more than six hours of direct sun each day. Don’t worry about fertilizing ‘Thumbelina Leigh,’ – like most lavenders, it copes well with poorer soils and is at its best if placed in a well-drained site. A charming little shrub that requires a minimum amount of care.

Success with Lavender:

Originating in the Mediterranean, lavender prefers hot sunny days, dry air, and non-enriched, well-drained soil. While that’s great news for those gardening in the West, nowadays lavender can also be successfully grown in higher-humidity areas of the East and Pacific Northwest very successfully by remembering its basic needs. Be sure to pick a variety that is matched to your area. Depending upon your location and your desired use, there are lavenders for almost any setting. Next, follow the four basic elements to ensure lavender success:

1. SUN Lavender loves sun. Plant them in a sunny location where there is plenty of air circulation. Six to eight hours of sun is best, but some afternoon shade is fine in the hotter climates of the Southwest.

2. AIR Good air circulation is essential, especially in areas of high humidity. Lavender is not fond of damp, still air, which makes it prone to root rot. In humid areas, plant them with ample spacing, keeping in mind the mature size of your plant when in bloom and allowing for a bit extra space for good circulation.

3. SOIL Well-drained soil. This is perhaps the most important factor in success with lavender. One rule of thumb from is that the soil should be loose enough to dig with your hands, and not cake-like. You can add sand or small gravel to recreate this consistency if your soil is too compact. In areas where drainage may be a problem, mound the soil up to create a raised row or stand-alone mound.

In humid areas especially, a 1-2” mulch of pea sized gravel or white sand will do two things – it will help improve drainage, and it will reflect heat and light back up into the plant. More heat = more fragrant blooms! If you use a weed barrier, make sure it is breathable so the soil can drain and the roots can breathe. Gardeners struggling with growing lavender successfully in humid areas are encouraged to try planting Lavender Phenomenal.

4. WATER During the first year of your lavender’s growth it needs to establish a good root system. It will require regular watering (unless you’re experiencing healthy rain fall). Starting in the second year, your lavender will need less water, as it becomes the water-thrifty plant you’re hoping for, but to get there it needs to grow deep roots in year one. By the end of year three it will have reached its mature size and shouldn’t need any extra water. If water is needed, water in the morning, and deeply, to help root growth. A mature lavender plant is happy with only 9-12 inches of rain per year, but remember, with the right variety and good drainage lavender can thrive with more water.

It's ink and it works.
Style: Ink
It's ink and it works. My Epson printer is VERY finicky and only wants name-brand ink. This is it. A little pricey but they all are.

Well performing ink for my particular printer
Style: Ink
These inks work well, and are easy to install. They do not last long. They follow the current apparent marketing scheme of offering a a very good printer at a very favorable price, but charging relatively high prices for the ink. I understand that people need to make a profit somewhere.

Title: Solid, Reliable Ink – No Frills, No Surprises (4 ★)
Style: Ink
The Bottom Line The Epson 822 DURABrite Ultra Ink Standard‑Capacity Black & Color Cartridge Combo Pack (T822120‑BCS) does exactly what it promises: it prints clean, sharp pages on the WorkForce Pro WF‑3820/3823/4820/4830/4833/4834 series with no hiccups. It isn’t a game‑changing breakthrough, but it’s dependable enough that you can toss it in your cart, try it out, and feel confident you won’t be left with a printer jam or faded text. Why I Gave It Four Stars Aspect Verdict Comments Performance ★★★★★ Prints consistently on both black and color pages. Colors are vivid, blacks are deep, and there are no streaks or banding. Compatibility ★★★★★ Works flawlessly with all the WorkForce Pro models listed on the box. No driver updates or firmware tricks needed.Value ★★★★☆ Standard‑capacity cartridges are a bit pricier than high‑yield options, but you get the expected page yields (≈ 2,000 B / 1,800 C / M / Y). Packaging & Arrival ★★★★★ Packaged securely, the “OME” seal was intact, and the cartridges arrived ready to install. Innovation ★★☆☆☆ Nothing revolutionary – just solid, reliable ink. If you’re looking for a “wow” factor, this isn’t it. Return Policy ★★★★★ Amazon’s 30‑day liberal return policy makes the purchase low‑risk; you can always send it back if it doesn’t meet your expectations. Overall, the combo earns a four‑star rating because it meets every functional requirement without any drama, but it also doesn’t exceed expectations enough to merit a perfect score. What I Actually Did Unboxed the combo and confirmed the “OME” seal was intact – a quick visual check that the cartridges weren’t tampered with. Installed the black cartridge first, then the four color cartridges, following the printer’s on‑screen prompts. Ran a printer self‑test and printed a few typical office documents (reports, spreadsheets, a color flyer). Checked the print quality side‑by‑side with my old OEM cartridges. The results were virtually identical – no ghosting, no color shifts. Pros Plug‑and‑play: No quirks, no firmware hacks. Consistent quality: Straight‑forward, vibrant colors and clean blacks. Reliable supply: Works across the entire WorkForce Pro lineup mentioned. Risk‑free purchase: Amazon’s 30‑day return window lets you test without commitment. Cons Standard capacity only: If you print heavily, the higher‑yield (XL) versions would be more economical. No “wow” factor: It’s a solid, work‑horse cartridge, not a revolutionary ink formula. Price: Slightly higher than some off‑brand alternatives, though you pay for brand reliability. Who Should Consider This Home‑office users who need dependable daily printing without fuss. Small businesses that run a mix of black‑and‑white documents and occasional color marketing pieces. Anyone who values a hassle‑free experience and appreciates a generous return policy as a safety net. If you’re hunting for an ink set that will wow you with cutting‑edge technology, look elsewhere. If you just want a cartridge that does its job, lasts as expected, and won’t surprise you with printer errors, the Epson 822 DURABrite Ultra combo is a safe bet. Bottom line: It’s a reliable, as‑described product that earns my respect, just not my awe. Four stars—good enough to recommend, but not enough to call it a breakthrough.
