Crimson clover (Trifolium incarnatum) is a cool-season annual legume widely used as a cover crop, forage, and wildlife food plot. Known for its vibrant red blooms and ability to fix nitrogen, it provides multiple benefits for wildlife, soil health, and as a rotational crop. The seeds of crimson clover are highly attractive to deer, turkey, and small game, making it a popular choice for wildlife food plots. Inoculated with a NOP compliant seed treatment for maximum germination.

Benefits for Wildlife Habitat

High-protein seeds that attract deer, turkeys, and small mammals.
Attractive flowering plants provide early-season forage and pollinator habitat.
Fixes nitrogen, improving soil fertility for subsequent crops.
✔ Ideal for late winter and early spring food plots when other food sources are scarce.
Excellent for soil erosion control and enhancing soil health due to its nitrogen-fixing ability.

Planting Guidelines

  • Planting Times:

    • Fall (August–September): Best planting time for winter cover crops and early spring forage.
    • Spring (March–April): Can also be planted for spring forage and quick-growing wildlife plots in milder climates.
  • Seeding Depth:

    • ¼ to ½ inch deep for optimal germination and seedling development.
  • Seeding Rates:

    • Drilled: 15–20 lbs per acre for uniform stands.
    • Broadcast: 20–25 lbs per acre, followed by light dragging or cultipacking to ensure good seed-to-soil contact.
  • Days to Maturity:

    • 70–90 days for full growth, typically reaching bloom in about 60–75 days and becoming mature by late spring or early summer.
  • Drought Tolerance:

    • Moderate – Crimson clover can tolerate drought conditions, but it requires consistent moisture for the best growth, especially during establishment.
  • Saturated Soil Tolerance:

    • Low to Moderate – Prefers well-drained soils but can tolerate short periods of wet conditions. However, prolonged saturation may hinder growth.
  • Shade Tolerance:

    • Low – Performs best in full sun, but can tolerate partial shade, particularly in cooler climates.

Fertilization Guidelines for Crimson Clover

  • Soil pH: Prefers slightly acidic to neutral soils with a pH range of 6.0–7.0.
  • Nitrogen (N): As a legume, crimson clover is capable of fixing its own nitrogen, so it typically requires little to no added nitrogen. Excess nitrogen can reduce flowering and seed production.
  • Phosphorus (P): Apply 20–40 lbs P₂O₅ per acre based on soil test recommendations to encourage strong root development and early growth.
  • Potassium (K): Apply 30–60 lbs K₂O per acre if potassium levels are low to ensure healthy growth and seed production.

Fertilization Timing:

  • Apply phosphorus and potassium before planting based on soil tests.
  • Avoid excessive nitrogen applications, as this can lead to excessive vegetative growth and reduced flowering.

Herbicide Use for Crimson Clover

  • Weed Management:

    • Weed control is crucial during establishment, as crimson clover can be outcompeted by aggressive weeds in its early growth stages.
  • Herbicide Options:

    • Pre-emergence: Herbicides like Prowl H2O (Pendimethalin) or Treflan (Trifluralin) can help control grasses and broadleaf weeds before planting.
    • Post-emergence: 2,4-D can be applied selectively to control broadleaf weeds without damaging crimson clover.

Key Considerations:

  • Follow all herbicide labels for proper timing and application to avoid damage to the clover.
  • Mowing or manual weed control can reduce the need for herbicides, especially in established plots.

Book content good but formats for both kindle and hard copy versions are not as expected
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
The info in the book is good however I originally purchased the kindle version but the format was difficult to read. It’s not like a regular kindle book. The book was beautiful and the pictures inside were in color. So I decided to go ahead and order the hard copy even though it was very expensive. I received it today and it’s in all in black and white. No beautiful colored pictures. For $45 it should be in color like the sample or kindle version. I spent $55 for both versions and neither is what I expected format wise. Just disappointing. It would be 5 stars of these issues were fixed. I attached a page of the kindle vs paperback.

The Best Fluoride-Free Toothpaste I've Tried
Flavor Name: 1. Sensitive Mint, Size: 5.25 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I've been using Davids Hydroxi Fluoride-Free Nano Hydroxyapatite Toothpaste for several weeks, and it has completely exceeded my expectations. The first thing I noticed was how clean and smooth my teeth felt after brushing. Unlike many natural toothpastes, it leaves a genuinely fresh feeling without being overly harsh. The natural peppermint flavor is refreshing and pleasant without the intense burn that some mint toothpastes have. What really impressed me is the nano-hydroxyapatite formula, which is designed to support enamel remineralization and reduce sensitivity. My teeth have become noticeably less sensitive to cold drinks, and they feel stronger overall. Nano-hydroxyapatite is gaining attention as a fluoride alternative because it can help replenish minerals in enamel and reduce sensitivity. I also appreciate that it's: Fluoride-free SLS-free Made in the USA Vegan Uses high-quality ingredients Comes in a recyclable metal tube The whitening is subtle but effective. My teeth look brighter without any increased sensitivity, and the toothpaste is gentle enough for daily use. The inclusion of xylitol and hydroxyapatite makes it feel like a premium oral care product rather than just another natural toothpaste. While it's more expensive than conventional toothpaste, the quality and ingredients justify the price. Even dental professionals reviewing hydroxyapatite toothpastes have noted benefits for remineralization, sensitivity relief, and plaque reduction. Overall: 5/5 stars. If you're looking for a fluoride-free toothpaste that supports enamel health, helps with sensitivity, and leaves your mouth feeling exceptionally clean, Davids Hydroxi is absolutely worth trying. Highly recommended!

Mild mint taste
Flavor Name: 1. Sensitive Mint, Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I wanted to go fluoride free with my toothpaste so I decided to give this a try. I like that the flavor isn’t overly strong and it hasn’t caused any irritation at all. It doesn’t foam up as bad as my old toothpaste did. It is important to me that it’s all natural and fluoride free. My first check up at the dentist after using it went really well so it cleans your teeth really well. I would recommend it
