It's best to start Atilbe in pots in a soil mixture of half coarse sand or vermiculite and half peat. We like to use a Tupperware type container with holes in the bottom and a translucent lid the help maintain moisture. You can also use 4" landscape pots that have holes in the bottom. These seeds are some of the tiniest seed we sell and are difficult to work with. Best way to handle them is to mix the packet with 1/4 cup of dry sand and use a shaker (like a spice bottle) to sow them. In the case of pots give each pot a quick shake, or if using 1020 trays you can apply the contents of one packet in the whole tray (using the shaker method). They require light to germinate so do not cover them and if you decide to direct sow them and not use the shaker method lightly dust with sand or vermiculite.

While germinating they do like their soil moist, but not soaking wet. We keep our Tupperware pot or landscape pot (with holes in the bottom) in a larger tray that always has about 1" of water in it. If you let your potting mixture dry out while Astilbe are germinating it means certain failure. We also loosely cover the pot with a translucent lid or plastic wrap to ensure the seeds don't dry out. Place your container under an artificial light source and keep it from getting too hot. We use flourescent shop lights, but you can also use LED grow lights. Don't use incandescent light bulbs, or place in direct sunlight, or you will generate too much heat.

These are slow to germinate, and once germinated grow slowly, so patience is required if you want to grow these. Do not expect them to germinate and create full size Astilbe in a few days, and like most perennials they will not flower until their second year.

Once they germinate, and are about 1/4" tall, you can remove the plastic wrap. You can also then add 1/4 strength liquid fertilizer like Miracle Grow to their water in the bottom tray (water from the bottom). When they are about 2" tall, and in the spring after your last frost, you can transplant them into your garden. Once mature they are very durable but in hotter climates we recommend you plant them in full shade or at least where they get afternoon shade.

The author offers many tips such as screen shots each morning of your itinerary should you lost internet service. This journey is not just a physical one as you follow the steps of St James after he answered God’s call, but a spiritual journey as well.

A Comprehensive and Well-Mapped Camino Guide
Format: Kindle
This updated edition of the Camino de Santiago guide offers a thorough overview of all six major routes. It's really great that you can download detailed, panoramic maps for each route, providing clear, step-by-step directions that are extremely helpful for planning and navigating. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned pilgrim, the insights into each stage, town, and accommodation (from hostels to albergues) are invaluable. The book also covers essential packing tips and advice on physical preparation, which I found very practical. There are bonus links for accommodation guides are very useful, as well as other bonus links scattered throughout. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is that I felt it could include more in-depth cultural or historical background for each route. That said, if you’re looking for a guide that’s all about practicality and gets you started with planning your pilgrimage, this is an excellent choice.

This book is gold, well written.
Format: Paperback
This is one of few IT books I'd recommand. Reading this book really save a lot of grindings in advancing my career. The knowledge shared in the book is came from real and actual practice in the IT field. I wish there are more authors like Jay. This book is a treasure to me, it is unlike most of the other books I read that were either teaching outdated config or title baits, for example, the "official" CCNP 350-401 book that taught me the outdated ikev1 crypto map config. I own the LPI essential certificate during my college time, but the college course didn't give me the same confidence as this book. I am now feeling very comfortable and confident with Linux system and I found the beauty in it. I am 100% recommanding this book to everyone are interested in Linux, either for personal or at work. This book will be my reference to go at all time.

Best written tech book I've read in a long time
Format: Paperback
I've been following Jay on youtube since I decided to ditch Microsoft for Linux. He is a blend of Sys Admin and teacher. He makes a complicated subject understandable even to a 75 year old retiree. The best way to master Ubuntu server is to listen, watch, read and do. Thanks Jay; GOOD BOOK!
