Aglaonema pictum 'Bicolor' is a highly sought-after cultivar known for its unique two-toned camouflage pattern.

Each leaf mixes silver with green areas in irregular, natural patterns, without the deep green tones found in 'Tricolor'. Compact, slow growing and visually dramatic, this plant is a must for collectors. Perfect for terrariums!

The leaves grow to 12-20 centimetres long, lanceolate with silvery variegation. Unlike the more common Tricolor variety, 'Bicolor' offers a more subtle but equally striking visual effect. Leaf shape is also variable and the leaves are usually round to ovate.

Botanical description

The genus name Aglaonema comes from Greek words meaning "bright thread," while "pictum" refers to its painted leaf appearance. The name 'Bicolor' highlights its two-tone variegation.

Aglaonema pictum is native to Sumatra and the Nias Islands. It is a medium-sized plant, up to about 40 centimeters tall with 15-20 centimeters long leaves. The species is very variable in its leaf pattern.

There are specimens with single-colored green leaves, those with two-colored leaves (light green/dark green) and tricolor specimens. Aglaonema pictum 'Tricolor' is, as the name suggests, a tricolor form with a dark green base, light green areas along the midrib and individual silvery spots.

'Bicolor' is derived from the genetic lineage of Aglaonema pictum , a species adapted to the humid understory of Southeast Asian rainforests. These plants thrive in environments with filtered light, warm temperatures, and consistently high humidity, conditions to replicate indoors for success.

Care

Place in a bright location with indirect light. Avoid direct sun and shade. Bright, indirect light is essential for vivid contrast. Low light is not tolerated and causes faded patterns.

Keep the substrate slightly moist. Let the top 2 centimeters dry between waterings. Overwatering usually causes yellowing leaves.

Use an airy, well-drained mix enriched with perlite and orchid bark. Repot every 2-3 years and choose tighter pots to prevent root rot. Low humidity often causes brown tips. Keep temperatures between 20-28°C. Keep away from cold drafts.

Fertilize approximately every 4-6 weeks during active growth with a balanced liquid fertilizer.

The plant grows slowly, developing a few new leaves per season. It matures to 40-60 centimeters indoors.

Propagate by division or stem cuttings. Best rooted in moist substrate or semi-hydro system. Buy Aglaonema pictum 'bicolor' online!

Bought a "Used like new" watch. Doesn't keep time
Color: Black/Black/Black/Fast-Wrap
I've had this for a few weeks. Since then, it's lost about 30 seconds. I'm not sure if it's this specific unit that has the issue or the mechanism itself. It's a shame because it's a killer looking watch.

Light, retro watch
Color: Brown/Brown/Natural
This is a light, comfortable and retro-stylish watch. A mixture of plastic, canvas, and faux-leather makes a good match for a college professor's tweed jacket with leather shoulders and elbow patches. It looks and feels cheap but it's actually a pretty good watch. Mine has a high contrast face making it easy to read. The hands have lume on them but it only glows for a few minutes. There is an indiglo feature when you press the winder so that's great. The day window is tiny and almost unreadable even with reading classes but other than that it is very functional. You can adjust the time and day independently (so you don't have to wind through 100+ hours to get the right day displayed). The winder setting to select between time and day adjust is very finicky. Fortunately you only need to adjust the day 5 times a year. The weakest part is the build quality. I'm not expecting Rolex, but the case corrodes really badly and the strap is short and the stitching failed so it fell off my wrist in about 6 months. I replaced the strap with a better one but the case corroded so badly I tossed it within a year. Other than looking cheap, poor build quality, and being thicker than I would like, I think this is a good watch.
