Elephant Ears Midnight, one of the darkest elephant ear variety yet developed. Leaves are smoky black and velvety in appearance and stems are also dark. Similar to Black Magic, its leaves start out dark purple / green and morph into a deep dark purple black as the plant matures. Plant and leaves are also larger than Black Magic and stems are darker too, having a burgundy wine coloration.

More differences of Midnight, see 7th pic is it readily produces runners on which new plants will develop not just new plants along side of mature plant. Aka Black Runner in some areas, so if put in ground give plenty of space. The 8th pic shows deep red stems of Midnight, Black Magic stem is green covered in red spots and reddish at end. The 9th pics shows underside of leaf, Midnight has deep red stem and veins through the leaf, Black Magic has lesser. Last two show young small leaf is darker where Black Magic will be green and underside red veins even as new leaf.  See pics in Black Magic listing.

Midnight is a so called runner type and there are green forms too. So yes I have seen Midnight called Black Runner and Black Marble called Midnight and Black Magic called Midnight and more. It gets confusing. This happens a lot when people in different areas use different names for same plant. Sometimes same name is used for different plants of same type or even of complete different genus. I believe there are photos out there of what is C. Marble or C. Black Marble being labeled as Midnight. The photos show a part dark and part green leaf, a marble effect. Similar to Mojito but less spots. Midnight by definition refers to total darkness, totally black. Not dark spots on grey green leaf. You do not name your Pet Midnight if it is spotted, stripped, not all black haired.

Photos that look like Black Marble labeled as ( Midnight ) I believe are in error. Black Marble may also be known as Midnight Luxury variegated ori. But should not be labeled just as Midnight. 


Midnight is also a dwarf elephant ear plant that reaches up to around 3 feet tall not the 6 - 10 foot type. Great for ponds or marshy bogs and prefers bright filtered light, sun with some shade.

You will receive a single rooted plant similar to the one pictured with yard stick, not actual plant. 
Listing is for single rooted plant around 20" to 2 feet height. Plant you will receive will be trimmed for shipping. Plant will be sent in wrapped root ball and largest top leaves will be cut for shipping purposes so plant height when sent will be between 15 - 20" and ready to pot or place in ground.

First off, let me say wow! When I received this, I didn’t expect much because of the price, but I am blown away with the care that was given in the packaging alone, the simplicity of putting it together with the detailed yet brief instruction page, and the ability to put this together with one person. Took me less than 40mins. Highly recommend!!! And in fact, I’m purchasing another one right now as I’m sitting here rocking in my new beautiful chair. UPDATE: a lot of negative reviews are basically user error. To attach the wheels, to snap on, I used a rubber (not metal) mallet to tap them in. To the leveling review, you have one arm on backwards. To the screw passing through, you may be correct but double check you didn’t use the required screws elsewhere. And the person saying it doesn’t recline, you have to release the lock - pull the up and down lever out and away from the seat. Good luck all! Bought a second one - same thoughts as above. Pretty awesome chair.

Pros: Simple Assembly: It took less than 45 minutes to build. The instructions are straightforward, and all necessary tools are included. Getting the armrests aligned takes a bit of finagling, but it's manageable. Appearance & Shipping: It arrived well-packaged with no damage. It has a sleek, modern look that adds a great aesthetic to an office space, and the height adjustment works perfectly. Cons: Lack of Support: The comfort level falls short. At 5'11", I found the back offers no lumbar support, and the backrest isn't tall enough to serve as a headrest. Seller Stall Tactics

My chair arrived last Wednesday, but I only assembled it today. It looks overwhelming as you take all of the pieces out of the box, but it is straightforward to assemble. Took me less than 45 minutes start to finish. Assembled, the chair is really nice. Many reviews talk about the incessant squeaking. I'm guessing it has to do with how they assembled the chair. Mine does not make a sound. The seat is very firm, it may be uncomfortable for some people; I'll have a better idea after I use it for awhile. I gave it 4 stars because the plastic lever to raise/lower the chair, the underside broke off in 3 pieces! Fortunately I was able to fit the pieces back, and used liquid Gorilla Glue all over the broken seams. So far it's holding up well. Visually the chair is beautiful. UPDATED 6/1/20 - I originally gave this chair 4 stars. As you can see in my original post, I took one star off for a crucial piece that was broken inside the box. I read reviews where customers who experienced issues were not getting assistance from the seller. I am now in that same issue. After I initially e-mailed the seller regarding a replacement part for that one piece, they are repeatedly e-mailing me asking me is this part broken, is that part also broken. My last e-mail to them stated that I have explained the issue in detail multiple times and if I am sent one more e-mail asking if another part is broken, I will know this is a stall tactic. I have an e-mail this morning asking if the gas lift is broken. I've contacted Amazon to contact the seller with the understanding that if they stall Amazon as well, a request will be made for a full refund. I am NOT the one to play with when it comes to shady customer service. If I could give negative stars based on the seller alone, I would.
