Deer Hunting Blind Tips

Best Way to Raise a Box Blind:

1. Finding the Ideal Spot

This is what it all comes down to. You have to check what direction the wind is coming from. When selecting a location, make sure you have your hunting blind out of the line of sight of the animals. Place the blind so it forces wildlife to cross it instead of facing it directly when they enter the area. This will help you with concealment and to keep the wildlife away from discovering you.

Set-up the box blind as per the instruction manual. Unpack the blind and start spreading out all the pieces and get everything organized so you know where everything goes. Scatter all your pieces and make sure that you have all the parts to assemble the blind. To speed up the process, pre-sort all bolts, nuts, and washers. Another important thing you should think about is how you’re gonna shoot out of it, which direction you need to turn it, where do you want the ladder or how to access it. It’s a lot easier to build it in the direction that you wanted rather than turning it around later.

2. The Art of Being Elevated

There are two ways you can raise your box blind. Just make sure you have your ratchet strap, anchoring cable and 3-4 friends that are ready to help you out. You need to check what is the best height for your stand or how far you should put it up in the air. You need to be up above the deer’s line of sight where they can’t see you and high enough where you think the wind is gonna be dispersed better. For bow hunting, 10 ft. is recommended because too high means too acute.

Tractor or Skid Loader

One way to raise a box blind is with the help of a tractor or skid loader. Once your box blind is assembled and slides into its platform, you can follow these instructions (this can be done with 10 ft. or 15 ft. stands):

    1. Position cardboard on the floor to protect the handrails of the box blind.
    2. Roll the box blind onto handrails over the cardboard.
    3. Follow the instructions to assemble the stand. Allow safe distance between tractor and stand.
    4. Install anchoring cable to the stand. Use 1” or 2” ratchet strap to secure legs of the stand resting on the ground to the 1” rebar pin so the stand does not slide.
    5. Secure one end of the strap to the eye hook on the bottom base. Secure to the tractor or skid loader.
    6. Place the strap over the top of all bracing and then pull slowly until the box blind is raised.

Winch

Have you got a winch on your truck or ATV? This is another way to raise a box blind. Get a long piece of rope and build a very big A-frame (at least 16’ tall) out of some small trees or 2x6 Ts (nailed and tied together about 12” from the top). Dig a couple of good-sized holes and drop the legs of your frame in there. The A-frame will need to be upright, but leaning towards the stand. The rope should go over the top of the A-frame and be attached to the top of the stand. Allow a safe distance and winch the box blind up. Don't forget to build (or take) a ladder or steps to get to the door once you raise it.

The beauty of being elevated is that you can see a lot better, as far as observing goes. You can see further and watch the deer approach. When you’re up there, it keeps your scent up higher and disperses it better so you’re less likely to get noticed.

While you’re anxiously awaiting the hunting season, make sure everything’s been checked and ready. Anchoring down the bottom all the way would help a lot ‘cause you might have bad weather.

Hunters may only have an opportunity to hunt for once or twice a year, but if the location of the box blind is good, you can hope to make big bucks or maybe somebody’s first doe. Call or chat with us now so we can assist you in choosing and raising the best box blind and stand for you. Don’t miss out on what we’ve got coming up for you!

New formula
Size: 1.6 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Style: New and Improved Formula!
I love the original aqua cream but it seems they have changed the formula and it is a much thinner, more liquidy product. The scent has also changed, though it’s fairly neutral, and it now comes in a smaller glass container compared to the original plastic.

Obsessed. Soothing, effective, fragrance-free, incredibly healing
Style: Tolerance Daily Foaming Facial Cleanser
I’ve been loving this so much I bought a second bottle after a few days of using it. It has all the skin soothing benefits of the tolerance lotion cleanser, but it’s also a really great cleanser. It’s almost not noticeable how good it is at cleansing because your skin doesn’t feel stripped after, but it takes things off really quickly. I was worried because it doesn’t foam a lot and it feels so nurturing — much like the tolerance lotion cleanser (which I use as a second cleanse when my skin needs a few days to recover from something like a derm office treatment) — but when I wash again with my favorite HG cleanser nothing extra comes off, and I tested it twice on waterproof eyeliner that I’d swiped on my forearm for an hour or so, the eyeliner dissolved and wiped off with two or three gentle swipes. It has a very emollient texture, so when you rub it against your skin it slips so easily you don’t realize it’s dissolving and taking things away because there is no friction. So it’s great at taking off makeup, it’s AMAZING at cleaning makeup brushes, and IT DOES NOT BURN MY EYES AT ALL. Also, it is FRAGRANCE-FREE… before I bought it I read a review complaining about smelling a citrus fragrance, that person either has some sort of brain tumor or something spilled on their bottle when it was in a warehouse because this is definitely a fragrance-free product. Prior to trying this, I had tried another cleanser that gave me weird acne hives all over my chest (never happened to me before) and I was struggling to heal the acne and the irritation. I noticed an immediate difference when I started using the tolerance cleanser on it; the fresh redness went away, the acne started healing, and the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation has been healing fast. So I’ve been using this on my body as well and it’s soothing and moisturizing in all the places where other things have been drying. I have mild rosacea and I hadn’t realized how irritated my skin was from the last thing I’d tried until after 5 days or so of using this my skin tone looked much more even and the stubborn PIH I have from a two-zit hormonal breakout a month ago finally looked dramatically lighter (as recently as the week before, I’d needed to cover them with high-coverage concealer). Because this doesn’t foam much, some people might not realize how well it’s cleaning… I encourage you to judge it based on how your skin looks and feels. Since it is very emollient though, I do think it’s important to use it with a face wash scrubber or washcloth just to ensure you’re getting some mild mechanical exfoliation and clearing away skin cells that could be trapping stuff in your pores. For this reason, I do wash my face with this twice so the first wash can get off makeup/debris/oil and then the second wash can really penetrate and clean my skin.

No Scent and Gentle
Style: Tolerance Daily Foaming Facial Cleanser
I broke out in a case of Perioral Dermatitis recently and bought this product to help before I could see my doctor. Avene Tolerance facial cleanser has no scent and is very gentle on my skin. It didn’t burn when washing with this product, and even helped to slough off the dead skin around my lips. My face feels clean, not dry. I am still going to see my doc to get an RX for the inflammation, but I do believe this product helped to alleviate the dryness and tightness of my skin and lips. I’ve used other Avene products and I’m very happy with them. Even though these products are more expensive, to me they are well worth the money because they are much more gentle on the skin than any other products I’ve used. I will buy this product again just because of the fact that it’s so gentle. PS: at the time of purchase for this product, I also bought Avene’s Tolerance Control Skin Recovery Cream (you don’t need to use a lot of this one on your entire face), and Avene’s Cicalfate for lips. Between these 3 products, my lips and skin feel a lot better (however, I will still see my doctor because I have Crohn’s Disease and Perioral Dermatitis is considered an extra-intestinal side effect of Crohn’s).
