Most succulents are sold by a few growers who supply succulents and cacti to the US. This dirt clumps around the roots of plants and allows the plant and soil to slide right out of the cup. Succulents and cacti are desert plants that naturally grow in sand or sandy soils that drain well. If they are watered in this soil their roots will sit in water and will begin to rot. More delicate plants will die right away while more hardy plants take longer to look sad.

You can save plants by stripping this soil off and planting them in high quality succulent and cactus mixtures, like ours!
