🍎 Appleblossom Rosebud Geranium Grow and Care Instructions 🍎

~ Grow Instructions ~

  1. Fill your pots or planting cells with moistened potting soil. The ideal size is about 2-3". Eventually, you will have to "pot up" your seedlings. In other words, you will transplant them to a larger pot once they have about three sets of leaves and the roots have filled the starter pot. Although it might seem wise to start with a larger pot, it's not. Seedlings seem to do better in close quarters.
  2. Place one tiny seed in each pot and cover with a thin layer of moistened soil, just enough to cover the seed.  Cover the pots with a piece of plastic wrap or — if you're using a seed-starter — put the clear cover on top.
  3. Place the whole setup in a place that's warm, with bright, indirect light. Geranium seeds germinate best at 75 degrees F., so consider putting them on top of a refrigerator or using a Heat Mat. If the soil surface gets dry, use a mister to moisten it with water.
  4. Watch for germination, which can take as few as three days or as long as four weeks.  As soon as you see the first shoots of green, remove the covering and moisten the soil if it looks dry.
  5. Move the tiny plants to a place that gets bright light, with temperatures in the 70s during the day and no lower than 60 degrees F. at night. Although you can grow them on a sunny, south-facing window, grow lights are best. Keep the bulbs no more than 6" above the plants, adjusting as they grow. Leave the lights on for 12 to 16 hours a day.
  6. Begin fertilization at this stage: once a week with liquid fertilizer that's mixed at half strength.
  7. When the plants have three sets of leaves, transplant them to a 3-1/2" to 4" pot. Self-watering Pop Out Pots work well, but you can use anything that's about 4".
  8. Use fresh potting soil, such as our Transplant Mix, which is sterile and drains freely. Continue fertilizing the seedlings, but mix it at full strength and apply it at the rate recommended on the package.
  9. When frost-free weather arrives, it's time to "harden off" the seedlings. Hardening off is simply acclimating plants to outdoor conditions. Seedlings grown indoors have been coddled — you've been giving them just the right amount of light, moisture and nutrients. Outdoor conditions are more challenging, with fluctuating temperatures and light levels, more variable soil moisture and wind. About a week before you plan to set the seedlings into the garden, start hardening them off. Place them in a protected spot outdoors (partly shaded, out of the wind) for a few hours, bringing them in at night. Gradually, over the course of a week to 10 days, expose them to more and more sunshine and wind.

~ Care Instructions ~

Fertilizing : Fertilization for Annuals and Perennials

Annuals and perennials may be fertilized using:

1. Water-soluble, quick release fertilizers; or 2. temperature controlled slow-release fertilizers; or 3. organic fertilizers such as fish emulsion. Water soluble fertilizers are generally used every two weeks during the growing season or per label instructions. Controlled, slow-release fertilizers are worked into the soil ususally only once during the growing season or per label directions. For organic fertilizers such as fish emulsion, follow label directions as they may vary per product.

Light Conditions : Full Sun for Houseplants. Don't underestimate the light needs of houseplants that require full sun -- they are often tropicals. Place them within 2 feet of a southern exposure window, or at the very minimum, a room that stays bright. Bright rooms have light colored walls, allowing for light reflection.

Watering Conditions : Normal Watering for Houseplants. Houseplants that require normal watering should be watered so that soil is completely saturated and excess water runs out the bottom of the pot. Never water just a little bit; this allows mineral salts to build up in the soil. The key to normal watering is to allow the top inch or two of potting soil to dry out between waterings. Check frequently as certain times of the year may dictate that you water more frequently. Also, some plants that require normal watering during the growing season, may require less during the winter months when they are dormant.

Luxurious Feel, Durable Build… but Full Rotation Privileges Have Been Revoked 💙🦴 🐾
Color: Blue, Size: 6 IN, Color: Blue, Size: 6 IN
🐾 Hi, I’m PVD; toy curator, plush critic & occasional chew sommelier. This armadillo arrived beautifully packaged and immediately met my standards for texture, squeak clarity and cuddle factor. I originally gave it 5 stars for quality; and still do! But today I’m updating the review to reflect my current toy lifestyle rotation. 😌 What impressed me from day one: ✔️ High-end plush feel; soft enough to nap on, tough enough for energetic zoom bites and great relief from teething ✔️ Strong stitching; survived multiple “stress tests” (I chewed with intention) ✔️ HQ squeaker; not tinny or annoying, more of a honk ✔️ 6in is perfect size for small breeds; easy to carry during dramatic hallway walks Why it now gets 4 stars from a seasoned toy collector: ✘ As my luxury toy collection expanded, this one gets grabbed less often ✘ Simple design; I now favor more interactive or complex textures ✘ Still “keep-worthy,” just no longer VIP spot on the chaise lounge Best For: • Pups who enjoy soft comfort toys or emotional support snuggles • Light to moderate chewers • Dogs who like to carry their plushes around proudly • Ideal as a teething toy or thoughtful gift 🚫 Not ideal for: power chewers or highly stimulation-driven pups (like me now; my taste evolved) 📝 Final Re-Barks: Still recommend for pups who love cuddly squeaky companions. Great starter plush and great quality; just know that ultra-picky toy enthusiasts may rotate it out once newer models (or squeakier friends) arrive. — PVD (Plush Aficionado, Toy Rotation Director & High-Maintenance Household Icon) 🐶💁🏻‍♂️✨

Well Constructed Toy But Short-Life Squeaker
Color: Gray, Size: 8 IN
Super cute and durable toy. Makes a "grunting" noise that my dog loves. However rating a little lower because my dog has only been playing with it (gently) for a couple weeks and the grunting noise is starting to die. But she does really like this toy regardless!

Cute and soft dog toy!
Color: Gray, Size: 8 IN
This very cute armadillo dog toy is nice and soft for our Golden Retriever to carry around in his mouth. He eventually likes to pull off the legs, ears, or anything else extending from the body of the toy and so far he hasn’t been able to do so with this one. Not saying that it’s not possible, so as with any toy, you should monitor your dog playing with it as we definitely have to. He also likes to continually make his toys squeak and this toy’s squeaker works very well!

Great Toy for tiny to giant pups
Color: Gray, Size: 8 IN
Cute Amarillo. My teacup Yorkie uses it as a pillow or chases and attacks it. Well stretched does not easily fall apart. Good value for the money. Suitable for all sized dogs.

Fun dog toy, but not for heavy chewers
Color: Pink, Size: 14 IN
The armadillo is cute. My pittie, Sasha, was very excited to see it. She just had TPLO surgery on her left knee (she tore her ACL just before the 4th of July), and I wanted to get her something she could play with while she convalesces, that isn't a ball—she really likes to run and jump and chase the ball, but with her knee out of commission, I didn't want her to get depressed being trapped in her crate while she heals—with this toy, she was able to keep playing and not over excert herself and get more hurt. It quickly became her favorite toy; she chews it relentlessly and gets made when I take it from her (see below). It makes a funky squeak that's not a high-pitched squeak, like I thought it would be; it's more a low-pitched, lowing sound like a baby calf. One thing I would like to point out to other purchasers about what the description says: "Durable and Long Lasting - Made from premium soft materials, our cute plush dog toys can withstand rough play for indoor or outdoor and last for years to come. The textured surface also helps massage and soothe your dog's gums during playtime" This is a little misleading. It's a good texture and Sasha loved to play with it, but it wasn't very durable. It might be when compared to other chew toys, but not for my baby. She tore the nose off within 20 minutes of getting it. The next morning, she ripped off an ear, and I had to pull the stuffing out of the face so she wouldn't eat it while chewing away. She doesn't seem to mind, but I sure wish it had held up a little more. All-in-all, this was a good toy for a few days.
