This is a high-structure, epiphyte-leaning hybrid mix that sits between canopy and forest floor.

It is not soil and not pure epiphyte media. This is a collector-grade structural substrate designed for large-rooted tropicals that value oxygen, root grip, and long-term stability over constant moisture.

Think tree-root zones layered with decomposing bark and mineral rubble—where structure persists, air remains dominant, and moisture is buffered but never trapped.

COMPONENTS

(Meticulously blended to work harmoniously with each other)

Tree Fern Fiber – Fibrous moisture retention, excellent root grip, slow breakdown.
Coconut Husk – Chunky internal water buffering with long-term structural integrity.
Orchiata Bark – Rigid airflow pathways, drainage, and microbial stability.
Lava Rock – Permanent macropores, added weight, and deep oxygen channels.
Worm Castings – Biological activity and low-level nutritional background.
Charcoal – Toxin adsorption and EC moderation; structurally inert.
Biochar – Nutrient buffering and microbial habitat; long-term stabilization.

WHO THIS MIX IS FOR

This mix is designed for plants that require persistent structure, high oxygen availability, and controlled moisture buffering.

Best suited for:

  • Large-rooted tropicals that outgrow conventional soils

  • Anthurium (velvet-leaf, strap-leaf, terrestrial and hemiepiphytic types)

  • Climbing aroids with thick, exploratory root systems

  • Hybrid and terrestrial orchids that need more moisture than bark alone

  • Mature plants grown large and slow

  • Growers who water thoroughly and fertilize lightly but consistently

This mix excels where substrates must drain fast without ever becoming bone-dry, and where collapse over time is unacceptable.

NON-NEGOTIABLE RULES FOR SUCCESS

  • Water thoroughly to full runoff every time.

  • Fertilize lightly but consistently.

  • Use vented, rigid, or porous pots; avoid shallow cache pots.

  • Do not overpot. Structural stability does not excuse excess volume.

This mix rewards correct technique and will fail if treated casually.

PLANTS THAT DO WELL IN THIS MIX

Anthurium (velvet-leaf types), Anthurium (strap-leaf types), Anthurium (terrestrial and hemiepiphytic species), Philodendron melanochrysum, Philodendron verrucosum, Philodendron squamiferum, Philodendron micans, Monstera deliciosa, Monstera adansonii, Monstera siltepecana, Rhaphidophora, Hoya (mature plants)

Orchids:
Paphiopedilum, Phragmipedium, Phalaenopsis (moisture-tolerant hybrids), Dendrobium (epiphytic types), Encyclia, Brassavola

BEST ENVIRONMENT

Humid to tropical environments
(greenhouses, grow rooms, or well-managed indoor conditions)

Lower humidity is possible only with increased watering attention.

Small and mighty. Good quality.

In the past few years we’ve started buying only whole bean coffee to use in our French press. Given a few blackouts this past winter we thought it might be a good idea to have a manual coffee grinder on hand (instead of having reserve grounds). This compact grinder is good for a serving of two. It reminds me of a peppercorn mill and will fit 3 tablespoons of coffee beans. Overall I’m pleased with this product and would purchase it again. However, in the future I would also consider a larger and more ergonomic mill as I usually make at least 4 cups (4 tablespoons) of coffee at a time. The top can also be a little tricky to remove. PROS: - Grind setting works well - Quality feeling materials - Relatively simple to operate - Cost/value CONS: - May be too small for some - Top may be challenging to remove (e.g. Those with arthritis or difficulty with fine motor movement)

Compact, Quiet, and Great for an Office Coffee Upgrade
Color: M01 Black, Color: M01 Black
I bought this to use with my AeroPress at work, and for the price, it’s been a solid addition. The ceramic conical burr delivers a noticeably better cup than the pre‑ground coffee in the breakroom, and it grinds two scoops in about 15–20 seconds. It’s quiet, compact, and easy to stash with the rest of my setup. A few things to note: • The body can be slippery, and it occasionally twists in my hand when it catches a bean. A wide rubber band around the body of the grinder fixed that issue however. • Grind consistency is decent, not perfect. After three months I’ve found my sweet spot, but it’s not as uniform as my electric burr grinder at home — which is probably an unfair comparison. Expect small adjustments when switching beans as it can affect bitterness. • I wish it could be taken apart for deeper cleaning; the included brush only reaches the underside of the burrs. Maybe that’s overkill, but I’m used to doing it with my home setup. On the upside, it feels well‑built, works reliably, and the large handle knob is great for anyone with limited grip strength. Overall: A dependable, travel‑friendly grinder that delivers good results for the price. I’m happy with it and would recommend it for office or on‑the‑go brewing.

Satisfying and convenient.
Color: M01 Black
I've been drinking powder coffee and drip coffee, and wanted a change. This thing is really satisfying to use (I love the crunch) and clean. It's really sturdy, I've dropped mine once or twice and it's still going. It's small, and easy to adjust, but I mostly just grind it medium. It's utilitarian, but still looks quite pretty. Looks just like the pictures.

I use it everyday and love it

I was worried when I first purchased my mini manual coffee grinder. I was afraid I would not be able to use it due to arthritis in my hands. Well! No worries now. This little guys works great. It grinds fine to course and without undies stress on my hands. Thank you for making such a great grinder for all us nomad folks who enjoy freshly ground coffee in our rigs.

Good for the price, but has its limits
Color: M01 Black
You get what you pay for. Grind consistency is decent, but even the lowest grain setting won't get you close to a true espresso grind — it still produces a coarser result than expected. It's fine if you're using a pressurized portafilter, but not ideal for a bottomless one. Worth considering only if you don't mind spending 15 minutes a day grinding your morning coffee. After a few months, I got tired of the manual process and now just buy pre-ground espresso from a local coffee roastery
