Introduction to Blood Meal for Gardeners

Blood meal is a natural and organic fertilizer that has been used by gardeners for generations to promote healthy plant growth. Derived from the blood of slaughtered animals, it is a rich source of essential nutrients that can benefit your garden.

Composition of Down to Earth Blood Meal

Down to Earth Blood Meal is a high-quality product that is rich in nitrogen, one of the three essential macronutrients required for plant growth. Nitrogen is responsible for promoting leafy green growth and enhancing the overall health and vigor of plants. The blood meal is derived from the blood of cattle, making it an excellent source of organic nitrogen.

The product typically contains a minimum of 12% nitrogen by weight, making it a potent fertilizer for a wide range of plants. This high nitrogen content makes Down to Earth Blood Meal an ideal choice for promoting the growth of leafy vegetables, lawns, and plants that require a significant nitrogen boost.

Benefits of Down to Earth Blood Meal

  1. Slow-Release Nitrogen: One of the key benefits of Down to Earth Blood Meal is its slow-release nitrogen content. Unlike synthetic fertilizers that can lead to rapid nutrient release and potential burn to plants, blood meal provides a steady and gradual supply of nitrogen. This ensures that your plants receive the nutrients they need over an extended period, promoting consistent and healthy growth.

  2. Organic and Sustainable: Down to Earth Blood Meal is an organic fertilizer, making it an environmentally friendly choice for your garden. It is produced from a renewable and sustainable source, utilizing by-products from the meat industry. Using organic fertilizers like blood meal helps reduce the reliance on synthetic chemicals, which can harm the environment and disrupt soil ecosystems.

  3. Enhanced Soil Health: Beyond its nutrient content, blood meal can improve soil health. The organic matter in blood meal can help enhance soil structure and moisture retention. It also encourages beneficial microbial activity in the soil, contributing to a healthier and more balanced soil ecosystem.

  4. Versatile Use: Down to Earth Blood Meal is a versatile product suitable for various gardening applications. It can be used as a top dressing for existing plants, mixed into potting soil or compost, and applied when transplanting seedlings. Its versatility makes it an excellent choice for both experienced gardeners and beginners.

How to Use Down to Earth Blood Meal

  1. Application Rate: The application rate of Down to Earth Blood Meal depends on the specific needs of your plants and soil. As a general guideline, you can apply 2-4 tablespoons of blood meal per square foot of soil for established plants. For new plantings or seedlings, use a lighter application of 1-2 tablespoons per square foot.

  2. Even Distribution: To ensure even distribution, sprinkle the blood meal evenly over the soil surface and then gently work it into the top layer of soil. Avoid direct contact with plant stems to prevent potential burning.

  3. Watering: After applying blood meal, water your garden thoroughly. This will help activate the nutrients and allow them to penetrate the root zone effectively.

  4. Frequency: Depending on your specific plant and soil conditions, you can apply Down to Earth Blood Meal every 6-8 weeks during the growing season for ongoing nutrient support.

Down to Earth Blood Meal is a valuable and sustainable organic fertilizer that can enhance the health and productivity of your garden. Its slow-release nitrogen, organic composition, and versatility make it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced gardeners. By incorporating Down to Earth Blood Meal into your gardening routine, you can enjoy the benefits of lush, green foliage and thriving plants while promoting soil health and sustainability.

Solid timepiece from Timex
Color: Black/Black/Brown, Color: Black/Black/Brown
Style: T49905 - blk/blk/brown leather band Easy to read, watch face is well laid out and I like the contrast of the numbers against the background. It's been a while since I had a watch with Indiglo so it was nice to see that again. However, with the white hands, it's a little tough to read in the dark when the backlight is on, though it does have glow in the dark hands. Watch has a heavy, quality feel to it. Well constructed, like it may take a knock or two. Much beefier than any of the previous Timex watches I've owned. I was concerned about the crown size and it hitting the back of my hand in certain positions but it seems to be fine. I feel it but it's not nearly as prominent as I thought. If you have bad eyes like me, it may be tough to read without glasses on. The band fits well after oiling the leather --- cuts down drastically on break-in time. It always seems like I'm right in between two of the settings so oiling will help the band stretch a little in the tighter position. The color is pretty light fresh out of the box and the thread contrast is pretty retro. I found that oiling it also helped sort of detune that a little bit. I'm always one of those types that has to mod something the second I take it out of the box or it just isn't going to work. Oiling the leather band was the trick. I was on the fence and considering ordering a different one until I took a few minutes and hand rubbed some leather oil in to get it much darker and more pliable. Super comfortable. And thick, too. Seems like it will hold on for a few years. I bought a "used" one for a slightly discounted price -- in this economy, ffs!? Arrived just fine, intact, no signs of having been worn, just out of its original box and returned. Arrived in a factory box on factory wrist holder for the band, instructions were included, and arrived with a fresh battery installed -- just need to remove the tab to engage time and start the watch. Also, register the lifetime warranty. You'll likely never need to anything other than change the battery but if you ever do, they'll fix it for free. Also, I am not affiliated with Timex in any way. I'm just hopped up on the watch I just got and feel like writing a nice review about it. Highly recommended watch and happy to replace that $60 smartwatch. I was ready to get back to a real time piece. Nice choice!

Nice Watch... But Buyer Beware!
Color: Black/Black/Black, Color: Black/Black/Black
This is a great looking and very functional watch for the price, so I was very disappointed to find it didn't work properly. Close examination revealed a tiny plastic collar preventing the crown from being fully depressed as necessary. I'm aware most new watches come with a small plastic tab that must be removed to activate the watch: this was not that. Those tabs are designed to be easily removed with one's fingertips. This collar (shown in the photo) was barely accessible due to the crown, and could not be removed even with fine-tipped watch repair tools. I contacted Timex customer support and sent them the photo. They evaded my question as to what the collar was and why it was there, but confirmed it needed to be removed for the watch to function, suggesting I bring it to a jeweler/watch repair shop. Well, the watch isn't such a bargain anymore if I've got to pay someone to get it to work -- so I returned it and requested a replacement. Wouldn't you know it? The replacement had the same stupid plastic collar preventing it from working. This time I decided to see if I could fix it myself. I removed the case back with a pry knife, removed the plastic battery cover, used a pin-punch to release the watch stem, and fully removed the stem from the case, finally freeing the offending plastic collar. Pretty straightforward if you have the tools. Reassembly was trickier, as two miniscule push bars fell out when the plastic battery cover was removed. These allow the chronograph pushbuttons to activate the stopwatch. They're smaller than a grain of rice and sit loosely within tiny channels in the battery cover, so they are very prone to falling out as the cover is put back in place. It took several attempts to get the battery cover situated with them still seated. Then it was just a matter of carefully placing the watch in a case press to snap the case back in place. Once reassembled, the watch worked fine. I replaced the rubber strap with a NATO strap, and it's now a favorite daily beater watch. I'm astounded no other reviewers seem to have encountered this issue when I encountered it TWICE, but I've detailed it here in case others run into the same problem. Disassembling the watch to remove the troublesome plastic collar isn't that big a deal if you have watch repair tools and steady hands -- but if that's not you, you might have to decide whether it's worth paying a jeweler to repair your brand new watch.

Highly recommended for a first-time buyer!
Color: Black/Black/Black
As a newcomer to the world of watch collecting, I wanted my first serious piece to be something reliable, functional, and stylish. After spending some time with the Timex Expedition Field Chronograph, I can safely say it exceeded my expectations. Design and Build Quality The first thing that caught my eye was the color palette. The earthy, rugged tones give it a great "field watch" look that works for both daily wear and outdoor adventures. Despite its 43mm size, the weight feels substantial without being overbearing. The finish is impressive for this price point; it feels incredibly durable and well-built, like it can actually handle the "Expedition" name. Readability and Function I was initially a bit worried that the chronograph sub-dials might make the face look cluttered, but I found it surprisingly easy to read. Once you get used to the layout, tracking the time at a glance is a breeze. The "Killer Feature": INDIGLO The standout feature is definitely the INDIGLO backlight. It is, quite simply, excellent. It makes reading the time in low-light or total darkness effortless. It’s one of those features you don’t realize how much you need until you have it. Final Verdict For anyone just starting their collection, this watch offers a perfect blend of style and utility. It feels like a tool that is built to last, and I’m really happy with how it looks on the wrist. Highly recommended for a first-time buyer!

Uncompromising Quality at Every Price Point
I really like this watch. The case and back are made of steel and it is substantial. The glass is very hard and clear. The writing on the face is subtly three dimensional (it’s not just printed on the surface). Even the three circles on the face have very precise, slightly raised concentric circles. It’s a little hard to see the black hour and minute hand agains the military green watch face in low light. But it is also what makes this watch aesthetically unique. I am a little confused as to why the second hand is bright yellow, but the hour and minute hand are not outlined in yellow. If you are in sunlight, it’s easy to read the time. I got the version with the rubber band. I like that a lot too. Soft, substantial, pliable. Very comfortable. Timex is consistently high quality for each price point (ranging from $20 resin cases to $2,000 titanium). If you pay more, the materials and details match that price. But, the quality is always uncompromising. And their watches are both simple and aesthetically pleasing.

Great watch, but serious design flaw; Not expedition worthy.
Color: Black/Black/Brown
This is a great watch. Love the metal casing, band, and aesthetic design. Although it looks and 'feels' rugged, it is not worthy for the man of adventure. Let me explain. The middle knob of the watch (the main knob that you push for light/pull to set time) is a bit large and too exposed for its own good. This makes the knob vulnerable to any stress. Example, if you flex your wrist/hand backwards throughout your adventures, whether pushing yourself off the ground or climbing over rocks, the back of your hand places pressure on the knob. The knob eventually reacts to this stress by breaking off. The knob has a little metal stem behind it that appears to be made of lower quality metal. This knob is crucial to the watch as it is used to set the time (by pulling and turning knob). Without it, the watch is useless regarding time. If you are having difficulty understanding the hand/wrist stress, think of yourself in a push-up position while wearing the watch. The back of your hand places stress on the knob which is exacerbated by the angle of the watch strapped in that position. Perhaps I had a fluke, but this same problem happened on 3 watches. Yes, I loved this watch so much, that I purchased it 2 more times. The knob on the first one broke after being in the field doing archaeology, the second in an outdoor adventure, and the 3rd occurred by simply pushing myself off the floor after lying down. The knob broke off in all 3. This is a design flaw combined with low quality metal for the metallic rod behind the knob. If you look at a few other Timex 'expedition' models, you'll see the case is molded to the sides of the knob, protecting it from stress. This particular model could use something like that. I really loved this watch and still do. But I cannot recommend it to men who do active things. If you have a simple life working in the office and come home to the couch, this watch will suit you fine. For all others who move their hands in all sorts of directions, beware of this watch.
