Consistent yields of high-quality 10–12", 14 lb. dark-green fruits with candy-sweet, red flesh. A summertime treat that will quickly become a favorite for its unsurpassed flavor in gardens across the country! 70 days. One of the earliest watermelons we know; superb for the North, but it also grows well in heat and drought. The flesh is red and deliciously sweet. Fruit has a dark rind and weighs 8-12 lbs each. This excellent variety was developed by our friend Glenn Drowns, owner of the Sand Hill Preservation Center in Iowa. A favorite of many gardeners across the USA. One of the best we have ever tried!Our best melon for short, cool seasons with crisp, sweet flesh that rivals hybrids.

An excellent small, fast maturing, highly productive watermelon that can be successfully grown in cool short season areas or southern hot, humid, areas. The earliest of 114 varieties that Glenn Drowns grew in 1994. Round 9 in. fruits have a dark green rind with small brown seeds. Orange-red flesh has sweet, rich flavor. When harvested just underripe, melons will ripen in storage and keep up to 2 months.
