Handling Tip
Selection
- Yucca should be firm and fairly straight without any cracks or decay.
- Free of vascular streaking, blue or purple spots when the root is cut transversely.
- Look for waxing coating on the yucca which helps to preserve the item.
Storage
- Yucca should be stored at 45°F - 50°F (7°C - 10°C) with a relative humidity of eighty-five to ninety percent and no mist.
- The typical shelf life is two to three weeks. Long-term storage leads to cracked skin and yellow flesh.
- Yucca is very sensitive to water loss. Waxing is applied to yucca to maintain postharvest quality. Waxing and the optimal storage temperature can extend the shipping time to over thirty days.
- Yucca is sensitive to ethylene, a naturally occurring gas that regulates ripening. Yucca should not be stored with high ethylene-producing products to decrease the chances of vascular streaking. Yucca with optimal relative humidity produces a low level of ethylene but lower relative humidity increases the level of ethylene.
- Yucca is sensitive to chilling injury at storage below 41°F (5°C). Symptoms include vascular streaking. The optimal storage condition will have minimal symptom development; as long as immediately consumed when removed from storage before symptoms have had time to develop.

Effective Fiber Supplement with a Few Minor Drawbacks
I've been using Metamucil for several weeks now, and I can confidently say it’s made a noticeable difference in my digestive health. This 3-in-1 psyllium husk powder really lives up to its promise: it supports regularity, helps curb appetite between meals, and contributes to overall gut health.
One of the biggest benefits I’ve experienced is improved consistency and regularity—within just a few days of taking it daily, I felt lighter, less bloated, and more “in rhythm.” It’s also great knowing that it helps support heart health by lowering cholesterol, which makes it more than just a basic fiber supplement.
That said, there are a couple of small things that keep this from being a full 5-star product:
1. Texture and mixing – Even when stirred thoroughly, the powder tends to thicken quickly and can become a bit gelatinous if you don’t drink it immediately. It's not awful, but the texture might be off-putting for some, especially if you're new to fiber drinks.
2. Taste – I tried the orange flavor, which is decent and not too sweet, but there is still a slightly artificial aftertaste. It’s manageable, especially if mixed with cold water, but not exactly enjoyable.
3. Frequency – You have to take it consistently (1–3 times a day depending on your needs), so it does require sticking to a routine to get the full benefits.

If you’re looking for something to help with regular digestion, mild appetite control, and general gut wellness, this is a solid choice. Plus, the large container lasts quite a while, so it’s a good value.
I’d definitely recommend it—but be prepared for a bit of a learning curve with the texture.

Good source of fiber for one's digestive track.

If you want some more fiber for your diet these work well. They are swallow easily and are noticeable except for being effective overnight.
