Tephrocactus articulatus var. polyacanthus is a striking cactus native to Argentina, known for its unique segmented stems. This mature plant features distinctive, jointed segments that grow in a chain-like formation. People often call it the Paper Spine cactus due to its thin, paper-like spines that cover each segment. Its form stands out in any cactus collection because of its architectural appearance.

Tephrocactus articulatus var. polyacanthus grows with remarkable synanthous segments, where new joints develop while old ones remain attached. This feature gives the plant a sculptural, branching effect. The polyacanthus variety offers a fascinating look with its spiny, articulate stems, making it a favorite among enthusiasts of South American cacti. Its growth habit creates a dense cluster of spines and stems that attract attention in any garden.

  • Thin, paper-like spines cover each stem segment
  • Branches form through simultaneous segment growth
  • Dense clusters give an architectural look
  • Native to Argentina, perfect for arid collections

The polyacanthus form of Tephrocactus articulatus provides an exotic and sculptural appearance that enhances any plant display. Do not recommend
Edible, though barely. Definitely the worst tasting oysters I've tried of all the brands. Hopefully I don't get food poisoning as has been reported by other reviewers.

High quality product.
Warmth? I’m not sure what that means. I make a simple dish out of these, some milk, butter and salt and pepper—then I “warm” it up. They’re a little pricey but the quality and taste/flavor is great. I would definitely buy them again.

Good and can be used in many dishes.
These are pretty good mussels they have not been smoked or anything added to it but mussels, water and salt. Since they are packed like that, you can use them in a variety of dishes. I would buy them again but only when they're on sale because they are pricey.

Meaty and flavorful
I ate these straight from the tin at room temperature, sometimes sopping up the extra liquid with decent bread. I purchased these because I wanted to try an alternative to the King Oscar. I've tried a couple different kinds of mackerel over the years, and while the King Oscar has been the best I find their olive oil varieties to be a bit acrid. Not so with these Otter Kingdom fillets. Theses are actual fillets, so they are larger and meatier, and in my experience they have a looser grain than the mackerel I'm used to. They are high-quality, so I'm not detecting any bones and there's no formaldehyde-flavor, no imperfections in the cut. The oil is quite thin/watery and fairly small in volume. This isn't an issue for me, if anything I'd say it's welcome as it doesn't overpower the fish. These make a great compliment to my tinned fish rotation, which includes tuna, squid/octopus, sardines, cod liver, oysters, and sometimes sprats, salmon, and trout. The price is better than King Oscar, so I can have it more regularly without feeling like I'm being immoderate. Would recommend.
