The Santa Rosa Plum Tree is a Fast Growing & Self Pollinating Producing Sweet Fruit

Santa Rosa Plum Tree Produces Sweet, Red-Purple Plums with Golden Flesh Every Summer

The Santa Rosa Plum Tree is a fast-growing, self-pollinating fruit tree that yields large, sweet plums with golden flesh and purple-red skin. Ideal for zones 6–10, it offers fragrant white blooms, reliable summer harvests, and stunning ornamental value in any landscape.

The Prunus salicina Santa Rosa Plum tree is a favorite cultivar among home gardeners for its lush fruit and low maintenance qualities. Developed by Luther Burbank in 1885, an American botanist and horticulture pioneer discovered this plum tree. Everyone was so amazed by the fresh-eating plums it won many awards and has been cherished for generations.

The Santa Rosa produces high-quality, large, red fruit growing with golden yellow flesh that appears in early spring and ripens in mid-July. The tree yields an abundant harvest of delicious plums with purple skin!

They have a wide variety of culinary uses, including freezing, making ice cream, plum jelly, and preserves. The stone fruits of this Santa Rosa Japanese plum are delicious when eaten fresh and the more you pick them the greater the fruit production will be.

The beautiful weeping branches producing fruit will bloom luscious white flowers that load the tree to prepare for pollination. The green leaves of this medium-sized tree will contrast nicely until the leaves fall for winter.

The Santa Rosa Plum Tree is an excellent option for cross-pollinating other fruit including other plum trees, pear trees, and peach trees

Fruit tree planting is a great way to utilize your yard and space to grow food for your family!

How Big Does A Santa Rosa Plum Tree Get?

A full-grown Santa Rosa plum tree and reach a mature height of 15-20 feet tall. The Santa Rosa plum size is semi-dwarf and can grow wider than it is tall to about 18 to 25 feet wide and requires space for its branches and root system to grow.

The plum tree grows best across the United States in USDA plant hardiness zones 6-10. This plum tree requires around 300 to 400 chill hours for best results in fruiting.

Are Santa Rosa Plum Trees Self-Pollinating?

The Santa Rosa plum tree is self-fertile. This means it does not need another plum tree around to produce fruit. However, having another plum variety will increase fruit production and you will have a heavier crop.

How To Plant A Santa Rosa Plum Tree

When planting a Santa Rosa Plum tree, be sure to chose a location with well-drained soil and full sun. Planting this plum tree in full sun will help yield more plums of better quality. It should get at least 6 hours of sun each day. Plant Santa Rosa plum trees in the spring for the best results. This European plum tree is a heat tolerant tree that prefers the southern climates.

How To Prune A Santa Rosa Plum Tree

Santa Rosa should be pruned each year during the dormant time of winter. Prune Santa Rosa plum trees immediately after planting. Santa Rosa Plum trees tend to have lots of upward growth. Prune its shoots back to its buds that face outward instead of upward. Remove V-shaped branch forks so keep the branches from breaking off.

When Do Santa Rosa Plum Trees Bloom?

Santa Rosa plum trees start to blossom in May and ripened fruit can be enjoyed around July. Our trees are ready to produce fruit, but it usually takes 3 to 5 years before the Santa Rosa plum tree produces fruit. To get more fruit out of your Santa Rosa plum tree, plant them in full sun and fertile soil. Regularly fertilizing the santa rosa can also help with its fruit production.

Santa Rosa Plum Tree Care

Easy to grow and care for and mostly free of pests and diseases, this homegrown dwarf plum tree Santa rosa is an excellent choice for backyard enthusiasts and orchardists alike. A slow-release fertilizer at the top of the root ball will encourage new growth every year. Mulch will help protect the tree and keep in moist during the hot summer months.

You should water your Santa Rosa tree at least once a week during the growing season, especially as a young tree when roots are established.

Fine for a man (with skinny wrists)
Color: Black/Gray, Color: Black/Gray
I have an older mens ironman which has gotten a little beat up and needs replacing. The band is much longer than I need. The metal clasp sits off-center on the underside of my wrist, closer to the part of my wrist which curves around to the front. The too-long strap sometimes flops around and catches on things. I couldn't find a smaller-band mens version, so I tried this "womens" watch (picking the most manly-looking one, of course). I like it better. The band fits my wrist much better, with the metal band in the middle and no flop. I also like that the watch is lighter and the face and band are smaller and less bulky, so it is less noticeable when I'm wearing it (cycling weight weenies will appreciate this). The face is still large enough to be easily legible and contains all of the same great features as my mens ironman watch, plus the newer versions now have an hourly chime, nice! Other info: my wrist is ~17.5cm or ~7.0" around. On this watch, I use the 6th out of 9 slots on the band. On my mens ironman, I use the 3rd out of 9 slots. Weight: this one = 28g, mens = 39g. Pics show comparison of my prior mens ironman with this new "womens" ironman. Photo order is confusing (couldn't figure out how to change that). They are: (1) side-by-side, mens on left, (2) mens band (wider and clasp is off-center on my wrist, end of band hangs over the edge of my wrist -- too long for me -- catches on things), (3) womens band (less wide, clasp is more centered on my wrist and end does hang over edge of my wrist), (3) womens watch (smaller, and looks new), and (5) mens watch, looking a little beat up.

Watch holds up in saltwater!
Color: Black/Gray
I bought this watch to use for my trip to the Galapagos Islands. I read two reviews that the watch does not hold up in salt water. I went snorkeling in the ocean 6 times, about 45 minutes each time. The watch did not leak. I did take precautions by keeping the watch under my rash guard and lowering myself slowly into the water. I also rinsed off my watch each time I snorkeled. I also bought this watch for the multi time zone feature by saving the time on the west coast, east coast and Galapagos time since I cannot change the time on my Fitbit until I land in an airport. I did not use any other features of the watch because I generally use my phone or Fitbit for an alarm or timer. The only complaint I have is that Timex now discourages changing the battery by the consumer. I changed the battery myself on my old Ironman watch. The new Ironman watch is fitted with triangular head screws. So I will have to purchase screwdrivers with triangular heads when it comes time to change the battery.

Reliable and durable, even in harsh conditions
Color: Black/Gray
This watch has served me very well. From Arctic waters to long distance races, it has held up to everything except one task I asked of it, which was my fault. This watch can handle repeated free dives to 12 ft deep. It cannot handle scuba diving at the same depth for an hour straight without needing to have the battery shorted to reset it. It fits well, lights up consistently and brightly enough to read without being blinding, keeps accurate time, and generally does everything I want it to.

Ten years of ownership…Thank you, Timex!
Color: Black, Size: One Size
Solid watch for everyday wear. I have worn this watch for over 10 years. I let a watch shop replace the battery about every 18 months. Other than the original band (which lasted 5 years) I have had zero problems. Still looks great, rugged and manly😇 Overall I recommend this watch for its value, reliability, simple clear design, legible hands in all light conditions. Great watch!!!

Solid Watch for Everyday Casual Wear
Color: Black, Size: One Size
I have purchased this item other times and I’m quite satisfied with wearing this watch everyday with casual wear. The size is just right not too small or large.
