Dimensions

The raised bed side boards are made from resawn cedar that's a full 1 inch thick and 5 1/2 inches high. Two boards stacked give the raised beds a height of 11 inches. Three boards stacked make a 16.5 inch raised bed, and four boards stacked make a 22 inch raised bed.

Each size comes with corner pins the same height as the bed you order, so you can put the raised bed on hard ground or a patio if needed, and the tops of the pins will be flush with the top of the bed.

This raised bed comes with rust-proof steel crossbars, which prevent the wood from bowing under the weight of the soil.

For our Natural Cedar line of raised garden beds, we have hundreds of sizes available in square/rectangle, L-shapes, U-shapes, and more. If you are still looking for a custom size not shown on our site, please fill out our contact form here including any specific size information, and reference it's for our Natural Cedar raised beds.

Durable Cedar

These raised beds are made from kiln-dried cedar. It is a fragrant wood with an even texture and strong natural oils to protect against moisture and fungal decay. This cedar long outlasts most lumber found in stores.

To further increase the lifespan of your raised beds, you can apply a stain or sealant. We offer Eco Wood Treatment as one option. Eco Wood Treatment works by penetrating wood fibers to create a natural buffer against water and fungal decay. It increases wood's durability while creating an aged, silvery patina after just a few hours.

Innovative Design

The simple design of these cedar raised garden bed kits allows wood to shrink and swell, for better strength and durability in wet and dry conditions. Hardware like screws and nails eventually loosen as wood ages. Our natural cedar raised garden beds are secured with stainless steel rods and galvanized steel crossbars for lasting durability. The result is a sturdy, long-lasting garden bed that can still be easily disassembled by hand when needed.

Setup & Assembly

U-shaped raised beds can be set up on any ground surface that is flat and level. Simply position the boards so the notched ends overlap and insert corner pins to lock the boards together. Stack additional board layers to build the height of the raised bed. The corner pins will be the same height as the bed you order.

For the trellis portion, assembly involves arranging the vertical and horizontal cross pieces on a flat surface, then gluing the notches and applying pressure to form a grid. Once the cross pieces are in place, the frame can be attached with included screws, again applying wood glue to the notches where the cross pieces join the frame. The final steps are attaching the trellis assembly to the planter box, along with the end braces.

We recommend letting the boards sit in a garage, shed or covered area for 3-5 days to allow the boards to acclimatize to their new environment. This helps to prevent any cupping, warping, and gapping.

The most practical Christian book I've ever read!
Format: Paperback
I found this book on a whim from a comment a review on Amazon. And I'm so thankful that God lead me to it. Are you tired of reading Christian authors who just recite a bunch of trite, spiritual platitudes? I was. So many Christian authors nowadays lay out elaborate, idealistic metaphors about how we should be living our lives. They use flowery rhetoric to inspire. But they don't tell you practically or biblically how you can change your life to reflect these ideals. Until I read this book, I hadn't found an author who could provide direct application of the Scriptures to my circumstances. This book does that and more. My main takeways from the book are 1) How a person reacts to his/her circumstances is a direct reflection of his/her heart and 2) Change in how you react to the circumstances or "thorns" in your life ultimately depends on heart transformation by Christ. All too often, our natural inclination or reaction is to blame others for what we are going through, be it our spouse, God, a co-worker, etc. How often do we turn the microscope inward? Rarely. The reality is life is hard. You will have trials. How YOU choose to respond to the trials is the key. So often, preachers and books call for specific modifications in behavior such as memorizing Scripture, avoiding temptations, etc. Of course these modifications are not bad in and of themselves, but they do not provide lasting change. If you do not believe that the Bible is the ultimate Word of God, then this book is not for you. The entire book is bathed in Scripture. Not just snippets, but big chunks with full application and analysis. Another unique aspect of the book, is that the author fills the book with numerous real life examples that you can relate to. In other Christian books I've read, the author may give you one or two isolated examples, which are so unique that nobody can relate to them. Perhaps you won't relate to all of the examples in this book, but I guarantee that at least two or three of them will hit home. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to all people who are wondering how they can change themselves for the better using Scripture as the basis for their change.

It's about the Heart
Do you know an anger-filled, joyless Christian who blames every wrong thing in their life on someone else? Do you struggle with marital issues that seem to never get better? How People Change by Timothy S. Lane and Paul David Tripp points the reader to the Gospel in producing lasting change…a change that comes through the heart. While I may point fingers and pray for God to change this situation or that person, the person God is intending to change is me: “God says that what needs change the most is us! He does not just work to fix situations and relationships; he is intent on rescuing us from ourselves. We are the focus of his loving, lifelong work of change.” Have you ever felt God with a scalpel begin to pierce the condition of your heart? I know I have and it is not pleasant at the time but the result is more Christ-likeness. The authors write: “But the Bible teaches again and again that our circumstances don’t cause us to act as we do. They only expose the true condition of our hearts, revealed in our words and actions.” “Our background, relationships, situation and physical condition only provide the opportunity for our thoughts, words, and actions to reveal whatever is already in our hearts. Our hearts are always the ultimate cause of our responses, and where the true spiritual battle is fought.” The authors walk the reader through four concepts to producing lasting heart change: Heat (the trial of an external situation), thorns or fruit (the response of the heart to the trial) and the cross (the new life we have in Christ). “A new lifestyle-the outward fruit of a believer’s life-does not grow out of a stoic obedience to God’s commands, but from a heart that has been captured and captivated by the Giver of those commands.” This was the first book I finished on my 2014 Reading List. It is a must read for those who are tired of their sinful responses and want to understand how to have true heart change.

Gives an actual answer—without feeling cliché. Terrific book.
How People Change is a powerful book. It spells out in simple (not simplistic) terms how people change. It looks at Scripture and quotes from it heavily to make its points. At the center of the process of change is Jesus and the gospel. When we accept what Jesus has done for us and look at him, and continue to look at him throughout our lives instead of just at the moment of our conversion, something monumental shifts. But the shift is so subtle, but so real. I feel like I understand what life with Christ is supposed to look like now. A lot of books promise to give you the secrets to this or that. This book does give you the answer to how people change: it involves repentance no matter life's circumstances PLUS faith in who God is and living out of our new identity as his children. This is one of those books I plan to buy and give to my friends. I want more people to read this to understand what I now understand. This is truly a five star book. It's not a quick read, but wow is it worth it. If you don't read any other book this year, seriously, consider this one. In fact, go ahead, check out the sample of the book right now—if you don't end up buying and reading it, you will be missing out on grace from God in a big way.

Globalization greatly increases leverage over opponents
I'm trying to learn more about China. This book was referenced in a book I read by U.S. General Spalding entitled "War Without Rules." The book was written by two Chinese PLA colonels and published in 1999 so it's about a quarter century old. According to General Spalding the book has been read and considered within the U.S. military. I have the paperback and it's 193 pages, not including a short afterword and some information on the authors' backgrounds. It reads fairly well although I did encounter a few places where I wasn't entirely sure what the book was trying to say. I don't know if this was due to translation challenges or it was just me. I got through the book fairly quickly. My main takeaway was that globalization has offers a potential opponent many more levers to influence the actions of others than simply resorting to kinetic (bombs and bullets) warfare. Economic warfare is certainly possible and in the colonels' view has been resorted to by the West against Asian targets. They view George Soros as a financial terrorist who wreaked havoc on Asian economies in 1998. They describe Soros as a soldier in the wars of tomorrow. Page 191. The inspiration for the book was the First Gulf War. The lesson that the colonels drew from this war was that it was inadvisable to fight the U.S. in a straight-up kinetic war. Finding other ways to fight the U.S. was mandatory. As I write this in January 2024 I wonder if the Chinese military will follow the colonels or if they will resort to traditional kinetic means of fighting if their leadership decides to take Taiwan. On page 120 they describe the new model of warfare as combining the battlefield and non-battlefield exemplified by Schwarzkopf and Soros and Bin Laden and some Chinese that I don't recognize. As they say on page 120 "This then is our real hand of cards." The book also cites a number of Chinese theorists on war, which I think I useful. I've read fairly widely, but my reading has been focused in the West. Also, the authors look at international bodies and how China might use them against the U.S. On page 164 the book argues that warfare is changing from "bloody massacre" and finding expression in "information warfare, financial warfare, and trade warfare". Look at the U.S. response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The colonels' thoughts are worthy of consideration. On page 110 the book observes "continuous coverage by the modern media which very much strengthens the effects of terrorism." If the topic interests you, I recommend the book. The book may be 25 years old, but its message is timely.
