Despite its name, it’s actually a succulent that stores water in its bulbous trunk, helping it handle periods of dryness. Over time, its curly leaves and thick trunk give it a playful, sculptural look that makes it a great statement plant.
During the growing season, water once the top 2–3 inches of soil have completely dried out. In winter, watering should be much less frequent. When it’s time to water, bring the plant to the sink in its grower pot and thoroughly soak the soil, allowing any excess water to drain away.
Give your Ponytail Palm plenty of light so it can thrive—it even tolerates some direct sun.
