Meadow Brome is a bunch-type, long-lived perennial grass that establishes quicker than other grasses and is ready for grazing at an earlier date. This grass regrows faster and has more basal leaves than smooth brome, making it highly palatable to all classes of livestock. Meadow Brome is known for its good drought tolerance and excellent winter hardiness.

Benefits

  • Quick Establishment: Faster to establish than other grasses, with seedlings exhibiting better vigor than smooth brome.
  • Early Grazing Readiness: Becomes ready for grazing 7-10 days before smooth bromegrass.
  • High Palatability: Very palatable vegetative growth suitable for all livestock.
  • Drought Tolerance and Winter Hardiness: Performs well under dry conditions and is very hardy during winter.
  • Sustained Productivity: Productivity does not decline after several cuttings, making it a reliable forage source throughout the growing season.

Characteristics

  • Type: Cool season perennial.
  • Growth Habit: Bunch-like with long-lived characteristics, and very little or no rhizomes.
  • Yield: Yields relatively better than other grass species.

Planting Instructions

  • Seeding Rate: Seed at 12-16 lbs/acre when planted alone, and 6-8 lbs/acre when used in mixes.
  • Planting Range: Early spring to late summer for optimal establishment.
  • Establishment: Although seedlings have better vigor than smooth brome, the horizontal spread of established plants is slower, resulting in less rapid ground cover.

Meadow Brome is an excellent choice for grazing and forage production due to its quick establishment, high palatability, and sustained productivity. Its adaptability to drought and cold conditions, coupled with its early readiness for grazing, make it a valuable addition to any pasture management system.

Unflavored but sweetened Metamucil
Flavor Name: Original Coarse Sugar, Size: 1.86 Pound (Pack of 1)
If the orange flavored Metamucil is too acidic for you but you want a sweetened unflavored variation, this is just right. It is sometimes hard to find and is often sold out at the drug store or grocery store. I was glad to find it on Amazon.

Unflavored original texture with sugar is the best!
Flavor Name: Original Coarse Sugar, Size: 1.86 Pound (Pack of 1)
I don't why the fake orange flavor is so popular. Unflavored is neutral and agreeable. Even with the sugar this product is very low glycemic index because the tiny amount of sugar is offset by the fiber.

Works but VERY thick
Flavor Name: Original Coarse Sugar, Size: 1.86 Pound (Pack of 1)
Thought I was ordering the orange flavor, which I can drink, successfully. The unflavored, sugar free is what I actually ordered. My fault, not the seller, but the difference, for me is huge! I can't choke it down. Flavor is completely neutral, it isn't that. But, seems so much thicker than the orange. ? Maybe it isn't, could be that the thickness of the orange is same but I can trick myself into thinking its orange pulp. Who knows. But, in any event, the unflavored definitely seems like I'm drinking mud. I can't do it. Too bad, too, because the product is VERY effective. I have colitis/IBS and the Metamucil brand works so much better than anything I've tried, in helping with GI issues, in general. Increased regularity, more comfortable passing, and over time, a GI cleansing that you can actually feel. I highly recommend the product, but you might want to pay extra for the orange flavor. Might make the difference in you being able to drink it with the consistency required for best results.
