Soft  Nursery Pots are lightweight, strong and flexible. They are an excellent choice for moisture-loving plants or for those gardeners who water infrequently.

Plastic pots are made of inert materials and are considered safe for growing plants. Many are made of recyclable plastic so disposal is environmentally friendly when the pot is no longer usable. In addition, black plastic can actually act as a solar collector, heating up the potting medium to plant damaging levels.

SIZE OF POTS FOR  PLANTS

Choosing a plant pot is an important but often overlooked task. They come in all shapes and sizes that are all going to effect the way your plant grows in some subtle way.

SO WHAT IS IDEAL POT SIZE FOR A PLANT?

It is best to keep your cannabis plants in pots varying between 1.5 – 3 gallons, 3 gallons being the norm (1 gallon is 3.8 liters). If you have a lot of room in your grow space then you may even want to consider 5 gallon pots.

What is the reasoning behind this? Well, cannabis plants grow long, winding roots; if they are restricted your roots can become “pot bound”. This simply means that there is not enough room for your roots; they cannot develop fully and thus will not be able to supply your cannabis plants the nutrients to the extent they require – leading to nutrient deficiencies.

Pot Sizes

3 gallon pots tend to be the most commonly used pots, these offer a good balance between pot size and room to grow – your cannabis roots should have adequate enough room for a decent grow, whilst the pot doesn’t take up too much room in your grow room, allowing you to grow more plants in a restricted space.

As previously mentioned, if you have enough room, you may want to consider 5 gallon pots (or even bigger). The draw back of them is that they take up a lot of room, so it can be fairly restrictive in smaller grow areas. However, if you have the space then it can help with the production of some big yields! (light, nutrient and other factors permitting). Having a 5 gallon pot allows enough room and freedom for your roots to grow to their full potential.

Cannabis tends to do most of its root growth during the vegetative stage, by encouraging huge root growth early on in this phase you set yourself up for some potentially solid yields - by having an abundance of roots towards the flowering phase your plant can take up all of the water and food it could ever need, accelerating the amount it can grow. It should be noted, large pots are an enabler; they do not directly cause better yields, but have the potential to facilitate a situation where it can happen.

More Info

You will want to make sure that your pots are perforated (have holes in the bottom). These should rest on small dishes within your grow room. This allows for easier watering; it makes sure excess water can rest in the dish without flooding your pots – you can then remove this excess water from the dishes at will to ensure that your plants do not end up being over watered. You can also opt for putting your pots into large trays, this a more professional approach as you do not have to worry about each individual dish, but makes it harder to empty out excess water.

Make sure to thoroughly clean you pots before bringing them into your grow space, there may be chemical residue or other impurities left over from the shop or factory. It is also important to only put one plant in each pot, no matter what the pot size is. This will stop any need for competition between plants as well as make sure that any problems that may occur are isolated – should the soil in one pot accidentally build up toxic levels of nutrients, it will only affect one plant.

As you can see, the size of your plant pot can have a large impact on how your plants grow. It is most important to make sure your roots have enough room to develop. And grow, otherwise you may find that you have a stunted plant. Giving your plant more room than it needs can let it really flourish. However, you must bear in mind, whilst having too little room will definitely negatively impact your plan. Having loads of room is not going to get you extra results unless other, more important factors. Such as light and nutrients are at optimal levels.

DIFFERENT POT SIZES

The plants above are both auto flowering Flying Skunk's (with all leaves trimmed). And have been grown under the exact same conditions. The one on the left is a 12L pot and on the right is a 4L pot. Notice the difference in size of the 2 plants.

Great Yard Helper!
So easy to use and affordable! This edger is a great time saver, easy to operate, and relatively easy to adjust although you may need a pliers or screwdriver to help with the adjustment levels, but its not difficult. I would have given this 5 stars but just one thing that is a sticking point for me is I wish this had its own stand or hanger because of its odd shape, it doesn't necessarily balance upright too well. It’s long and the guide wheel in the front sticks out. So, it is always awkward to get it tidy in the garage when not in use. Now maybe this is what it's like for landscapers…I’m not a professional. Just a homeowner doing my own upkeep. With what this costs, I’ll figure it out, and is worth the money.

First use was great!
I've used it just the one time today. I had previously "edged" with a string weedwhacker, so while the grass was cut back some, there wasn't a trench dug out. I did a gentle push and pull, taking on about 18" at a time to get a new trench dug next to the sidewalk edge. It did a great job! The entire unit was much heavier and sturdy looking than I was afraid it would be for the price, so pleasantly surprised. Assembly wasn't complicated, but it did take two of us to hold it steady because getting the screws to seat in the square hole and not have the cord in the way was a bit tricky. I'm a 70+ lady, not large and not athletic, but I was able to handle this edger with ease. Now, to see how long it lasts!

Initially defective poor quality
This item was initially defective and I needed one so I ordered another thinking it was a fluke. Both devices would not turn on. The second one briefly turned on for about 30 seconds and died. The major inconveniences that I can't return it in the normal way. I have to bring it to UPS and there isn't one near my house. I am very disappointed with this item and also with the return policy

Came in skeptical, but it's GREAT!
I read all the bad reviews I could on this thing and considered it an acceptable risk considering the price. Assembly was easy and the instructions were fair. Not amazing, but once you handle the edger, the gist is clear. I was skeptical overall that the horsepower and plastic guard weren't going to be enough. I ran it for nearly 45min stopping every 5 or so to check the blade and guard. It stayed tight and I was able to manually turn the blade to make sure it was working right. My front yard and sidewalk have been neglected for a few years. I would sometimes edge it out with the weed Wacker, but couldn't get it as clean as I wanted without breaking a LOT of line. When I was done, I noticed the guard had a lot of soil and grass buildup that I was able to take out easily with my fingers. There were a few times I scraped the sidewalk edge, but the blade is still solid and ready for more! I was surprised at the quality and as you're going over an area, it feels solid and not squirly or out of control. My uses are going to be mostly suburban maintenance on my own yard. If I had more land or something bigger, I would consider something larger. For my yard and purposes, this edger is going to work just fine! Did not notice any issues with the blade getting loose, but stayed aware of it. There is a lock nut that keeps it in place. I imagine over time and switching blades, this is going to lose its locking function, but I already see amazon has replacement blades that come with new lock nuts!
