The flesh is a soft orange, never stringy, and very flavorful. Very prolific and keep well for winter use if you harvest more than you can immediately use. Gardeners with short growing seasons may want to start their squash seeds indoors a month before the last expected frost (peat pots are the best option.) For companion planting benefits, plant squashes along with corn but avoid planting them with potatoes.
