orla kiely hanging planter Decorate Your Own Stem Vase/ Planter Pot Sgraffito Workshop – Alex Allday Ceramics

Join Ceramic Designer Alex Allday in her studio at Middleport Pottery for a hands-on pottery workshop decorating your own stem vase or planter pot.

Spend a relaxing couple of hours learning how to decorate your own porcelain stem vase or planter pot with a variety of surface decoration techniques and processes using coloured slips and different tools to create sgraffito, textures and patterns. You will be given a choice at the start of the workshop whether you would like to decorate a stem vase or planter pot.  

Vases and planter pots will be ready slip casted for you to work straight on to and you will be able to practise your designs and the shown techniques onto clay tiles before decorating your piece. If you choose to decorate a planter pot, you will have the option to have it as a hanging planter pot if desired. Holes will be applied to your pot and will be strung up for you ready to hang after it has been fired.  

This workshop is the perfect experience to gift to a loved one or enjoy with friends and embrace some time to yourself getting creative. 

The size of your finished and fired vase or planter pot will be as follows:

Stem vase: H20cm x W6cm

Planter Pot: H8.5cm x W10cm 

Cost: £40 per person

All abilities welcome and you do not need to have prior knowledge and experience in ceramics. With keeping it to a small group, you will each get one on one support and guidance throughout the workshop with lots of encouragement to make sure you leave with pieces you are happy with and most importantly having enjoyed the experience. 

FAQs

- Your pieces will be fired after the workshop and will be ready to collect from my studio 2-3 weeks following the workshop. I can post them out to you at an additional cost to cover P&P.

- Tea’s, Coffee’s and refreshments will be provided throughout the workshop.

- Aprons will be provided but wear old clothes and shoes

If you have any particular designs, patterns and objects for inspiration that you want to work from please bring them along.

-If for any reason you need to cancel your booking then this needs to be done at least 21 days prior to the start of the workshop and a full refund will be given. Unfortunately any cancellations made within 21 days prior to the workshop start date are unable to be refunded.

-If the workshop has to be cancelled due to illness then you will be offered the option to reschedule the workshop subject to my availability. Workshops can only be rescheduled once.  

-Please note that any items made during my workshops are for personal use only or may be gifted to friends and family. Items created in my workshops must not be made for resale.

All ideas, designs, and workshop content remain my intellectual property. You may not go into business producing copies of my work, nor may you run workshops or teach others using these ideas or designs.

You are very welcome to use all ideas and techniques learned for personal use within your own creative hobbies.
