German Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla [synonym: Matricaria recutita]) seeds, open pollinated in the organic Wild Veil Perfume Gardens on our De Luz site. Also called wild chamomile, blue chamomile, Hungarian chamomile and scented mayweed. The blue hued essential oil from the flowers contain chamazulene, an aromatic compound with anti-inflammatory properties. German chamomile is often made into a tea, but with its apply, hay, meadow, sweet-straw, and pineapple scent it can also play an important role in the natural perfumer's organ through its essential oil, tincture, or absolute. It makes a wonderful addition to a perfume garden.

The scent of our German Chamomile is singular because of the rare confluence of three soils found on our property: black volcanic, red volcanic, and decomposing granite.

Plant in well-draining soil with full sun. Hardy to zone 5 outdoors (but I have grown it as a perennial successfully in zone 4b).
