The Football Lily Bulb is a truly beautiful plant that grows from a bulb and comes back year after year. Its real name is Scadoxus multiflorus, and it belongs to the Amaryllis family. People often call it the Blood Flower or Fireball Lily because of its amazing look.
Key Characteristics
- Origin and Home: This plant naturally grows in the warm (tropical) and mildly warm (subtropical) parts of sub-Saharan Africa.
- Flower Look: Its most unique part is the huge, round, and dense cluster of flowers (inflorescence). This "football-like" ball can be about 6 to 9 inches (15 to 22 cm) wide and is made up of over 200 small, star-shaped, bright scarlet or orange-red flowers.
- When It Blooms: The flowers usually appear on a stem without leaves in late spring or early summer (often when the rainy season starts). This is called the "hysteranthous" habit: the amazing flowers show up before the leaves, or sometimes as the old leaves are dying.
- Leaves: The large, glossy, and wavy-edged leaves grow fully only after the flowering period is over. They form what looks like a thick, false stem.
- Growing: It loves soil that drains water well. It prefers partial shade, meaning it needs protection from the harsh afternoon sun. You can grow it well in pots or directly in the ground.
- Care: The bulb must go through a resting time (dormancy) during the winter months. Water it regularly while it is growing and flowering, but cut back on watering a lot when the leaves die back for its rest period.
- Warning: All parts of the $Scadoxus \ multiflorus$ plant are considered poisonous (toxic) if eaten because they contain harmful alkaloids. Handle it with care and keep it away from pets and small children.

Loving it so far!

I've only used this twice and I already love it. My main reason for buying it is for protein hot chocolate I drink twice a day. I previously made it at the stove and that took 13 minutes of constant mixing to reach 160°.
My hot chocolate is 1 cup of milk, 1 tbsp each cacao powder and panela (sugar), 1-2 tbsp collagen powder, vanilla extract, and 1 whole egg. I premix everything before pouring it into the frother because, while it may be able to handle the powders, there's no way that whisk will be able to break the whole egg enough to thoroughly blend it before it starts cooking. I'm totally fine premixing the night before and heating it in the morning. I made the first batch this morning with 2 cups of milk doubling only the cacao and sugar which brought it to just below the top max line, and it came out perfect. It was smooth and there was no burnt taste. I used the recommended hot chocolate attachments, lowest froth setting, and 160° temp setting. I had almost no froth in my hot chocolate which was perfect. I removed the pitcher as soon as it was done to prevent any burning. I checked the temp with a thermometer and the temp was actually 165°. I don't really know if that would impact the taste if there was less milk. For the 2 cups, it was still perfect.
I do wish there was a little more temp control like a 150° or 155° setting. I also wish it was able to give you the temp as it was heating in case you want to pull it off just before it hit the set temp. The bottom right button is superfluous. It helps with the foam setting, but you can also simply press each of those buttons directly.
Cleaning is super easy, just remove the pitcher and attachments. I love that the attachments are magnetic, but I recommend taking them out before pouring because the magnets aren't that strong. All in all, great for the price and perfect for my needs.

Works great with soy milk
Amazing steamer with high volume capacity. I can make large lattes. I love that it let's you choose your temperature. I use soy milk, and it works perfectly every time.
When using at max temp, only a tiny bit of soy milk gets a little burnt on the bottom, and it scrubs right off. Since the little whipping tool comes off on the inside, it cleans very easily. I love that the little whipping tool is magnetically attached, too. It's super easy to work with and very secure.
My 8 year old uses this all on her own without issue, which proves how easy it is.
Highly recommend.

Great frother choice!
I love this thing! As a former barista, this frother does a wonderful job! I've done hot and cold foam and they held up great! Used oat milk once and that did a great job foaming up! It can take a few minutes for the foam, so when I start my coffee, I start the foam, too. It's also dishwasher safe, which I love.

Burns On The Bottom
The chocolate setting takes forever. The milk burns in the same spot on the cup no matter how I try and rotate the cup during the heating process. I expected more from the reviews.
