  • 45–60 days residual weed control  covers the full critical period

  • Cost-effective at ~₹250–₹400 per acre
  • Reduces manual weeding cost by 60–70%

How Asar Atrazine 50% WP Works

Atrazine is a Group 5 photosystem-II inhibitor. It is absorbed mainly through weed roots and partly through leaves. Once inside the weed, it binds to the D1 protein in chloroplasts and blocks photosynthesis. Weeds turn yellow, then brown, and die within 7–14 days. Crops like maize, sugarcane, and sorghum tolerate Atrazine because they break it down rapidly in their tissues.

Atrazine 50% WP Dose : Crop-Wise Recommendation

Crop Target Weeds Dose / Acre Dose / Hectare Water Volume Spray Timing
Maize Echinochloa, Digitaria, Amaranthus, Trianthema 500–800 g 1.25–2.0 kg 200 L Pre-emergence (0–3 DAS)
Sugarcane Annual grasses + broadleaf weeds 800–1600 g 2.0–4.0 kg 250 L Pre-emergence (0–3 days after planting)
Sorghum (Jowar) Annual broadleaf + grasses 500–1000 g 1.25–2.5 kg 200 L Pre-emergence (0–3 DAS)
Bajra Annual weeds 400–600 g 1.0–1.5 kg 200 L Pre-emergence (0–3 DAS)
Non-Cropped Area Mixed weed flora, Parthenium 1500–2000 g 4.0–5.0 kg 250 L Active weed growth stage

Spray Guidelines

  • Soil should be moist with a fine tilth at the time of spray
  • Use a flat fan nozzle for uniform soil coverage
  • Maintain a 4–6 hour rain-free window after application
  • Do not disturb soil for 25–30 days after spray
  • Use the lower dose on sandy/light soils; higher dose on heavy black/clay soils
  • Avoid spraying near soybean, cotton, vegetable, and pulse fields

Weeds Controlled by Atrazine 50% WP

Broadleaf Weeds

Amaranthus viridis (Chaulai), Chenopodium album (Bathua), Trianthema portulacastrum (Pathari), Portulaca oleracea (Lunia), Phyllanthus niruri, Digera arvensis, Euphorbia spp., Parthenium hysterophorus

Annual Grasses

Echinochloa colona (Sawan), Digitaria sanguinalis, Eleusine indica, Dactyloctenium aegyptium, Setaria glauca

What Atrazine Does NOT Control

Established perennial weeds and grasses beyond the 3-leaf stage are not effectively controlled. For these, use Glyphosate as a pre-sowing burn-down or tank-mix with a post-emergence partner.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Atrazine 50% WP used for?

Atrazine 50% WP is a selective pre-emergence herbicide used to control broadleaf weeds and annual grasses in maize, sugarcane, sorghum, bajra, and non-cropped areas.

What is the dose of Atrazine 50% WP per acre?

The recommended dose is 500–800 g per acre (1.25–2.0 kg per hectare) in 200 liters of water for maize. For sugarcane use 800–1600 g per acre, for sorghum 500–1000 g per acre, and for non-cropped areas 1500–2000 g per acre.

What is the price of Atrazine 50% WP?

Current pack-wise price of Krishikranti Asar Atrazine 50% WP is listed on this page. Krishi Bhandar offers it at farm-gate rates lower than most branded options like Atrataf, with pan-India delivery and Cash on Delivery.

Is Krishikranti Asar same as Atrataf herbicide?

Both contain the same active ingredient  Atrazine 50% WP. Krishikranti Asar is a quality-tested generic equivalent of Atrataf and other branded Atrazine 50% WP products, offered at a more competitive farm-gate price.

When should I spray Atrazine 50% WP in maize?

Spray within 0–3 days of sowing on moist soil, before maize and weeds emerge. Late spraying after weed emergence reduces efficacy significantly.

Can Atrazine be used in soybean, cotton, or wheat?

No. Atrazine is NOT safe for soybean, cotton, wheat, pulses, or vegetables. It will cause severe crop damage. Use it only in maize, sugarcane, sorghum, bajra, or non-cropped areas.

How long does Atrazine stay active in the soil?

Atrazine has a long soil residual life of 3–6 months. This gives season-long weed control in maize and sugarcane, but means sensitive crops like soybean, pulses, mustard, and vegetables should not be sown for at least 3–6 months after Atrazine application.

Can Atrazine be tank-mixed with other herbicides?

Yes. In maize it is commonly tank-mixed with Pendimethalin for stronger pre-emergence control, or followed by Tembotrione 34.4% SC as a post-emergence partner for tough weeds. Always do a jar compatibility test first.

Pretty Colors to Encourage Me to Walk!
Size: X-Large, Color: (601) Bittersweet Pink / Stone / Stone
Hum. Extra large does not seem extra large. I have a slender but size 10-10.5 foot. Will keep but was hoping for a looser fit. Bought to match an Under Armour walking outfit.
