Anthurium warocqueanum, often referred to as the Queen Anthurium, is a prized collector's plant known for its long, dark velvety leaves adorned with striking white venation. Native to Colombia, this hemiepiphytic plant is celebrated for its dramatic foliage, which can attain impressive sizes, making it a standout piece in any indoor plant collection.

Native to: Anthurium warocqueanum is native to the tropical rainforests of Colombia, where it thrives as a hemiepiphyte in humid, shaded environments.

Water: Keep your Anthurium warocqueanum moist but not saturated. Water when the top layer of the growing medium feels slightly dry, ensuring the plant has good drainage to prevent waterlogging. Consistent moisture is crucial, but the plant should not sit in water.

Light: This plant prefers bright, indirect light to dappled shade. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch its delicate leaves. A position near a north or east-facing window with filtered light is ideal for promoting healthy growth and maintaining its vibrant foliage.

Humidity: Anthurium warocqueanum thrives in higher-than-ambient humidity levels. Aim for humidity levels above 70% to keep the leaves lush and healthy. Using a humidifier, misting the plant regularly, or placing it in a naturally humid room like a bathroom or kitchen can help achieve the necessary humidity. For added care, pack sphagnum moss around the stem as it grows to help maintain moisture levels.

Temperature: Maintain a warm environment for your Anthurium warocqueanum, ideally between 18°C to 26°C. Protect the plant from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C to ensure optimal growth and prevent stress.

Growth Habit: Anthurium warocqueanum has a hemiepiphytic growth habit, meaning it can grow both on the ground and attached to other structures. As it matures, it benefits from being mounted or provided with a support to mimic its natural growing conditions.

Answers Many Questions about Naval Developments
Format: Hardcover
The history offers a detailed and well organized account of the Royal Navy as it transitioned from sail to steam. Coverage included personalities, technology, tactics and strategy. The combination provided a complete appreciation of the dynamics at play, some unexpectedly. The details might be a bit much for a casual reader but offered plenty of avenues for research not available or compiled in one source. I look forward to the final volume, which should describe another watershed era.

Great Book with a different perspective
Format: Hardcover
This will be a short review of a very long book. I ordered the book expecting more of a history of the British Navy, but this is more of a history of Britain with respect to its navy. It is still excellent and authoritative, just different than I expected. I really appreciate a somewhat different perspective than I have found in some other books. For example, any discussion of Jackie Fisher I have read previously seemed to border on the hagiographic, whereas here he seems to get a very evenhanded appraisal. A great book, highly recommended.
