A French antique barbotine cache pot featuring a lively cherub scene, modelled in high relief and set against reeds and water. Three cherubs appear mid-play, fishing among small sculpted fish, with soft tones of aqua, cream and grey giving the piece depth and movement. 

Likely produced in northern France, in the manner of Onnaing, known for its expressive barbotine ceramics of the late 19th century. Resting on small feet, the form is low and elongated, making it well suited to a windowsill, console or centre table.

Originally intended as a planter, this majolica planter works beautifully today with trailing greenery or left empty as a decorative piece. The colours sit easily alongside natural materials such as wood, linen and stone.
