A slim, surface-mount trellis for posts, columns, and other tight spaces where wide trellises will not fit.

The Scroll Trellis Narrow Trellis is designed for deck posts, porch columns, mailbox posts, fence posts, and slim poles. At approximately 108 in (9 ft) tall and 4 in wide, it adds strong climbing support while staying close to the structure and out of the way. Flexible, UV‑resistant HDPE mesh gives clematis and other vines plenty of places to grab for healthy vertical growth.

Gardeners commonly use this trellis to dress up bare posts and columns with clematis, morning glories, black‑eyed Susan vine, and similar climbers.

Description

This narrow trellis is engineered specifically for tight vertical spaces like deck posts, porch columns, mailbox posts, fence posts, and slim poles where wide garden trellises will not work.

At approximately 9 ft tall and 4 in wide, it provides tall, unobtrusive support for climbing vines. The flexible, UV‑resistant HDPE mesh offers many small grip points, while offset brackets hold the mesh slightly away from the surface for airflow and easy weaving as vines climb.

Gardeners use it to turn bare posts, columns, and other slim vertical structures into living green features while keeping pathways clear.

Expandable coverage (optional)

Each Narrow Trellis works on its own, or multiple panels can be installed side by side or end to end for wider or longer vine coverage. Many gardeners use two or more panels together along fences, pergolas, walls, or larger posts to create a continuous vertical climbing path.

What’s included

One narrow mesh trellis panel
Approx. 108 in (9 ft) tall with a slim 4 in wide profile, made from flexible, UV‑resistant HDPE mesh that can be trimmed with household scissors.

Three offset mounting brackets
Black polypropylene brackets that hold the trellis slightly off the surface to improve airflow and allow vines to weave behind and through the mesh.

Fasteners and screws
Nylon fasteners and self‑drilling screws sized for typical wood posts, deck posts, pergola posts, and other wooden structures.

Installation guide
Simple, step‑by‑step instructions with diagrams to help you mount the trellis quickly.

If you want to attach the trellis to a metal pole or lamp post without drilling, you can use your own outdoor‑rated black zip ties. For round downspouts and smooth metal poles, we recommend our Downspout Trellis, which includes stainless steel cable ties designed specifically for those surfaces.

Installation & mounting

Installation typically takes about 20 minutes using a drill and screwdriver. The Narrow Trellis is designed for mounting to flat surfaces such as wood posts and columns. Before you begin, measure your space and decide where the trellis will start and end on the post, column, mailbox post, fence post, or other narrow vertical surface.

Step 1: Install the first bracket
Install the first bracket firmly against the structure, with the two plastic buttons facing the surface. This bracket anchors the trellis and sets the starting point.

Step 2: Set the trellis length
Remove the screw and the two plastic buttons from the loose bracket (take care not to drop the pieces). Reinsert the buttons through the mesh at the desired trellis height, then trim any excess mesh using household scissors.

Step 3: Pull the mesh tight
Pull the bracket outward until the mesh is straight and taut. Start the screw at a slight angle until it begins to bite. With the screw partially installed, rotate the bracket to tension the mesh, then fully drive the screw in place.

Pro tip: When installing on a building, apply a small amount of exterior sealant to the screw tip before driving it in.

Step 4: Install the mid support bracket
Mount the mid support block to the mesh using the push‑in buttons, then screw the block securely to the structure. This helps keep the trellis straight and evenly supported.

Step 5: Final check and vine training
Check that the mesh is straight and secure. Gently guide the first few vine stems into the mesh so the plant can begin climbing on its own.

For metal poles or round downspouts: the Narrow Trellis is optimized for flat surfaces. If you’re mounting on a downspout, lamp post, or smooth metal pole and prefer a no‑drill installation, use the Scroll Trellis Downspout Trellis instead, which includes stainless steel cable ties sized for those surfaces. If you’re still deciding between trellises, you can also compare both kits on the “Why Scroll Trellis vs Other Trellises” page.

Tips for clematis & vines

Clematis and other climbing vines use leaf stems or tendrils to grip as they grow. Giving young plants a little guidance at the start helps them take off more quickly.

Help clematis find the trellis
Gently weave or loosely tie the first few stems through the mesh so they make contact. Once clematis attaches to the mesh, it usually continues climbing on its own.

Use the narrow profile to your advantage
On posts and columns, allow the vine to wrap as it climbs. The trellis provides a vertical ladder, while the post adds extra support. This works especially well on mailbox posts, porch columns, and pergola posts.

Give vines enough height
Many climbing plants grow best when they can move upward. This tall, narrow trellis gives vines room to climb up to 9 ft tall. If a taller trellis is needed, simply add another trellis to increase the height. If a shorter trellis is needed, simply cut the mesh with household scissors.

Protect delicate vines
In hot climates, keeping vines slightly off the surface can help reduce heat stress. The offset design allows airflow around stems while providing steady support.

Pruning, water, and light still matter
Healthy growth also depends on proper watering, pruning for the plant variety, and placing the trellis where the plant receives appropriate sun and airflow.

FAQs

Will clematis climb this mesh trellis?
Yes. Many gardeners use this trellis for clematis. Clematis climbs using leaf stems, so gently guide or loosely tie the first few stems to the mesh. Once it attaches, it typically continues climbing on its own.

What size posts does the Narrow Trellis fit?
The Narrow Trellis is designed for typical flat‑sided posts and columns such as 4×4 in mailbox posts, 6×6 in deck posts, pergola posts, porch columns, and similar structures. Its slim profile works well where wide trellises will not fit.

Can I cut the trellis shorter?
Yes. The mesh can be trimmed to length using household scissors. Many gardeners cut it to fit a specific post height or railing.

Does the kit include hardware?
Yes. The kit includes offset brackets, nylon fasteners, and self‑drilling screws for mounting to wood posts and other flat surfaces.

Can I mount this on a round downspout or metal pole?
The Narrow Trellis is designed for flat mounting surfaces. For round downspouts, lamp posts, or smooth metal poles, we recommend using our Downspout Trellis, which includes stainless steel cable ties designed for those surfaces.

Can the trellis stay up year‑round?
Yes. The mesh and brackets are made from outdoor, UV‑resistant materials and are designed to remain installed through the seasons. Most gardeners leave the trellis in place and simply prune or replant vines as needed.

What plants work well on this narrow trellis?
Clematis, morning glories, black‑eyed Susan vine, star jasmine, honeysuckle, and other twining or vining plants that like to climb.

Can I use more than one Narrow Trellis together?
Yes. Each Narrow Trellis works on its own, or multiple panels can be installed side by side or end to end for wider or longer vine coverage.

Quiet, that's about the only good quality
UPDATE: Moving to 5 stars! Quickly after my 2 star review (below) the seller reached out and askked to exchange the defective product for an upgraded model at no cost to me. They were attentive and quick in responding, and I received a replacement version that also included the mopping functionality (The first didn't have this), and it works as expected. Customer service was too notch. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again. This is a lot quieter than my original Roomba, that is still running strong...but I wanted a 2nd robot vac so I could run one on the main floor and 2nd floor of my home. This one doesn't fit the bill, and I will be returning. I ran it while I was at home, and it stopped 4 times, telling me I needed to clean the brush. There was absolutely nothing bound on the brush any of the times. But had I not been home, it wouldn't have finished cleaning because it stops completely when it thinks there is hair. Then, another time, it just stopped running. It didn't say anything, so I don't know why it stopped. I assume it thought it was done, but the whole level of my home wasn't finished. This was all in just the one time I attempted to run it for 1 cycle. When I pushed the start button again, it said something to the effect of starting cleaning, so that's what makes me assume the last cycle was over. It does clean well, and is very quiet; however, it just stops for no reason far too often. I want it to run while I'm at the office, which obviously won't work if I have to be here babysitting it for the imaginary dirt on the brush. This will unfortunately be getting returned. I think I'll stick to the Roomba brand, as I have far less issues with my 10+ year old vac than this new one with all the nice features.

Decent robot vacuum, but struggles with dog hair
The setup was straightforward and the self-empty station is a nice feature. It navigates the house fairly well and does a decent job picking up everyday dust and debris on hard floors. Where it struggles is with dog hair. With a shedding dog in the house, I noticed it tends to leave behind quite a bit of hair, especially along edges and in areas where it tends to accumulate. It works better for lighter debris but doesn’t seem powerful enough to keep up with heavier pet hair. Pros: Easy setup and app integration Self-empty station is convenient Navigates rooms fairly well Cons: Struggles with dog hair Not as strong as expected for pet households Bottom Line: This vacuum works fine for general cleaning and light debris, but if you have a dog that sheds a lot, it may not keep up as well as expected. For pet owners specifically, it might not be the best fit.

Very Disappointed with this Vacuum
After having a Shark Robot Vacuum for many years, my husband decided to upgrade to newer technology (easier boundary settings, better mapping etc) On a good note, when this thing works - it works great. One of my biggest complaints with the Shark was I had to put physical boundary strips at the top of the stairs etc. This Eufy is very easy to set "no go zones" on the app, works famously in that aspect. This vac also seems to "work" in a more organized manner. I can see on the app exactly what was cleaned after every scheduled cleaning etc. The Shark would just buzz around the house all willy nilly, but this Eufy seems to be very organized in the cleaning, not missing anywhere. Now for the most aggravating part. I have my Eufy scheduled to clean every night @ 1:00 am, while we are sleeping. Most nights @ 1:15 am I get a notification on my phone "Roller Brush Stuck". Well obviously I don't see the notification until morning. I go "find" Eufy (which is easy with the app - shows you right where she is - another nice thing compared to the Shark) Pull the Roller Brush, which mind you, nothing is wrong with, it is not stuck, there is nothing wrapped around it etc. Put it back in & restart. This has done this since day one, brand new out of the box. After doing some scouring of the Internet, I see that this is a big complaint with many other owners of this model. From what I gather, Eufy is aware of this and it is a known problem. I called Eufy Customer Care after about using this for one week. The phone call lasted over 45 minutes (part of my life that I will never get back!) Now mind you, the representative was very helpful & thorough. We walked through a couple procedures, (The Rep had me pull the roller brush etc & report to her what I was "seeing") Which again, I had performed everything the Rep had me do religiously for the past week, but No, she like wouldn't take my word for it, I had to do all this again while on the phone with her - - almost like she didn't believe me at first. Next, the Rep offered to send me a "newer design roller brush" Ok, cool, if it solves the problem let's do it - I just wanted to get off the phone & on with my day. Oh wait, there are no new design roller brushes in stock. Now I'm told to send just the robot back (not the dock) I told the Rep to send me a call tag, as I wasn't going to pay shipping on a "brand new used one week" item. Oh wait, now she has located the replacement roller brushes. So here we are back to the original solution, she will send me a replacement roller brush. Took my name, my address, phone number, name of first & last born children etc. Just a long drawn out process to send me the "fix" for their known manufacture problem. So to make my long story even longer, here I sit a month and a 1/2 later without ever receiving the replacement brush and an unreliable product who doesn't complete her "mission" most nights. I wish this vacuum was still within the 30 day Amazon return period, because I would have sent it back after experiencing this defect. However my husband had bought this for me for Christmas (before the date that Amazon offers their extended holiday returns window) I didn't even unbox this vacuum before the 30 days were up. The App with the mapping & the expansive scheduling options is great compared to the Shark, but I bought the Eufy to vacuum, which she fails @ nightly.

Absolutely amazing! Working flawlessly for over a month, so far.
Color: White
I am very pleased with the performance so far. The strengths are the ease of setup, the accuracy of its mapping and carpet/floor recognition, the quality of its cleaning and mopping, and the entertainment of just watching. There are weaknesses. The documentation is sparse and pretty useless and tech support has been ghosting me..no responses. So hunt and peck with the App, mostly. Hard to really customize by trial and error. While it vacuums very well, it does not empty as well, really requiring the owner to manually empty the dust bin. No big deal. Maintenance recommendations are hidden on the website and I suspect it is advisable to do some maintenance after every use. The strengths win, however.

User friendly, Pet Hair Approved, Quite Powerful Robot Vacuum
Color: White
We prviously had an Eureka E10 vacuum and mop robot for 4 years. We had no idea what we were missing until we purchased this Narwal Freo X10 Pro. It maps very fast. It is extremely quite. The vacuum then mop with a refreshed mop head solution is much better than dragging around a robot mop pad with no way to clean it without removing and washing it. We have 3 Australian Sheppards that shed alot. This was the number one concern, whereas the prvious unit needed daily attention. Not a single hair tangle in the floating rotating brush of this unique Narwal Freo X10 Pro Robot vacuum. 4 months of no robot management is wonderful. The application was easy to use with a ton of customizable options. The AI option to recognize various floor types and throw rugs ensures a complete clean and quick simple setup. Lastly the price vs product was very reasonable. Great product! After spending many months researching, we are glad we made this investment.
