Vanilla planifolia, often referred to as the vanilla orchid, is a remarkable and highly sought-after tropical orchid native to Central and South America. This orchid stands out for its vining, climbing nature and its lush, leathery, green leaves. However, it's most famous for the aromatic and exotic vanilla pods it produces. These pods are a source of natural vanilla flavor and fragrance and are highly valued in culinary and perfumery applications. Vanilla planifolia orchids bear intricate, cream-colored, waxy flowers, and they are known for their distinctive pollination method – they are primarily pollinated by specific species of bees and hummingbirds. In cultivation, the vanilla orchid requires a warm, humid environment with filtered sunlight and support for its vines to climb. It's a plant of great economic and cultural significance, adding a touch of tropical allure to both the culinary world and the fragrance industry, making it a precious and enchanting orchid.  Zones 10-11

Germination

Germinating Vanilla planifolia from seeds can be a challenging but rewarding process. First, Soak seeds in a 4% sodium hypochlorite or (bleach) solution for 90 minutes. Plant them in a well-draining orchid potting mix, barely covering them with a fine layer of the mix. Maintain a warm, consistently humid environment by covering the pot with a clear plastic bag or a plastic dome to create a mini-green house. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Place the pot in bright, indirect sunlight, ensuring temperatures of around 25-30°C (77-86°F). Germination can be quite slow, taking several weeks to months. Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, they can be carefully transplanted into individual pots or larger containers. Growing vanilla orchids from seed can be a patient and fascinating endeavor, eventually rewarding you with the opportunity to cultivate your own vanilla beans.

Maelreg Does It Again
Color: Dark Grey, Size: Medium
I just wrote a review for another Maelreg product. They're all good! lol 21st century fabrics are here to save us! ;) This one is also really well made. I love the fit and feel. It's perfect for those mild fall/spring days where an extra layer of windproof protection is just really handy. The arms aren't insulated, so it's great for active outdoor ventures. I use mine for jogging over a poly/blend wicking tee. It lives at the office where I sometimes need a stylish overcoat in the A/C freezing office. I bought a size M for my 5'10" 175 lb. frame and it fits perfectly. Just long enough to sit at the top of my glutes. The front of the jacket has a nice contrast/sheen that you don't see everywhere, it's a nice style addition. The poly blend fabric adds a nice degree of flex to the fit, it's comfortable under a heavy overcoat or over a light thermal layer. Super easy to launder on cold/low, and really low temp iron to rid it of those packaging wrinkles, and its easy care forever. Great product at a really nice price point, all things considered.

Beatiful, light, sytlish jacket and you will receive tons of compliments on
This jacket is simply beautiful and well made. I took this out on a boat ride out in the bay and it was perfect. The materials are super soft with the spandex in arms, shoulders and back. The front has a very sylish super soft light weight fleece and the neck has three different colors in the inside which make the jacket pop. I recieved a lot of complements on the glacier grey and the large fit me perfectly at 6ft 190lbs. This is extreamly well designed and relaxed but stylish and can be worn for different occasions. This is a jacket that will make you stand out and get compliments. It is light weight so this is not a winter jacket but is perfect for 55-70 Degree weather with Tshirt underneith. The colorway on this glacery gray is well thought out and looks blue to me. Great overall and don't feel its too long in arms or overall length as another user posted. Updated: It did not shrink in cold/warm wash. I wanted to add that after washing the jacket was very wrinkled and care instructions are low heat. The jacket looked awful so I had to use a steamer to get out the wrinkles. If you do not have a steamer you may want it dry cleaned.

Machine washable, and machine dryable
I have no idea what these jackets have to do with playing golf, but they are very comfortable and an excellent value. Something that is very important to me, is that this jacket is machine washable. The product information does not provide specific care instructions regarding drying. I guess I could always put the jacket on a coat hanger and hang it in the bathroom until it dries. One star demerit for not addressing the drying aspect. I have tried this jacket on and it fits perfectly and feels soft and flexible. Maybe that's why they suggest wearing it to play golf? I haven't worn this yet, I have to wash clothes before wearing them. I have bad allergies and am very careful not to wear clothes before I have personally washed them. I will report back, and edit my review if this doesn't wash well. (NOTE) I pleased to report that I machine washed and dried this jacket without incident. The jacket came through like a champ. I think that long term if I wash this jacket often, I may just line dry it to be safe.

Materials are very light weight, not sure if it will hold up
This jacket is very light weight, made of very thin nylon type materials. Concerned of its abrasion resistance. Only inside of sleeves are fleece lined. It is very comfortable and fits well to size. Don’t have enough cold weather yet to test, so we’ll see. Not sure this is a great value for the money.
