Pothos (Epipremnum aureum), commonly known as Devil's Ivy, is a popular and versatile plant that can be grown partially submerged or fully emersed. It offers a unique aesthetic appeal to any aquascape. Let's explore its characteristics and growing guidelines:

Characteristics:

  • Pothos features heart-shaped, variegated leaves that trail and cascade beautifully.
  • It can grow both in water and in terrestrial environments, making it an adaptable choice for aquascaping.
  • The plant is known for its ability to purify the air and remove toxins.

Basic Guide for Growing Pothos:

  • Lighting: Pothos can tolerate a wide range of lighting conditions, from low to high intensity.
  • Water Parameters: It prefers slightly acidic to neutral water with a temperature range of 65-85°F (18-29°C).
  • Planting: Place Pothos cuttings in the substrate or let them trail above the water surface.
  • Nutrients: While it can absorb nutrients from the water, occasional fertilization can support its growth.

Do's:

  • Experiment with different planting methods to achieve the desired aesthetic.
  • Regularly trim the plant to maintain its shape and prevent overgrowth.
  • Enjoy the air-purifying benefits that Pothos provides.

Don'ts:

  • Avoid submerging the entire plant for prolonged periods, as it may lead to rotting.
  • Do not let the plant overgrow and shade other aquatic species.

Note: Pothos are poisonous to cats and dogs if they chew on the stems or leaves.

Smaller than expected
Format: Hardcover
For a book this costly, I expected it to be thicker than volume. That said, there are some great ideas in here and I will probably edit this review when I have finished reading!

Excellent treatment manual
Format: Hardcover
State of the art manual on a solution-focused form of multi-couple couples therapy for intimate partner violence. Excellent presentation of the rationale and the underlying theory behind the approach. I particularly like the presentation of the first six sessions. However, I did not endorse this with 5 stars because I believe that the solution-focused approach does not go far enough for some couples and that they need some more structured interventions for managing conflict, such as those presented in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

Format: Hardcover
This was not the book I needed for my office. The interventions or most of them required two therapists. Thank you.

A Great Way to Expose Yourself to Malpractice Lawsuits
Format: Hardcover
What the authors fails to say is that doing couples work where domestic violence is active is illegal in some cases and against standards of practice in most others. Not only might a clinician be increasing a client to dangerous relationship situations by conducting couples work where IPV is present, they are increasing their exposure to litigation. Let's not forget, this is the same APA who turned a blind eye to torture in the "war on terrorism."
