Fritillaria imperialis 'Rubra'
Perennial, Zones 3-10
Bulb Planting Depth: 8”
Height: 36-40”
Spacing: 1 bulb per square foot, 10-12” apart
Light Needs: Full sun to light shade
Soil Needs: Organically rich soil, moist but well-drained
Bloom Time: Mid-spring
Uses: Flower beds, borders, cut flowers, deer, and rodent resistant.
Care: Fritillaria prefers organically rich soil - amend the area with compost before planting. Feed with a granular flower bulb fertilizer at planting time or in the spring when the leaves emerge. Fritillaria does not like to be disturbed. Once you have chosen its home it is recommended that you leave it where you plant it. Cut back spent flowers and allow foliage to die back naturally before removing it (4-6 weeks after flowering).
