Bird of Paradise needs 4-6 hours of sun each day to bloom. Flower stalks appear in the fall and continue through until late spring. A healthy and happy orange Bird of Paradise can produce up to 36 flowers per year.
More cold tolerant than you might think, the orange Bird of Paradise can tolerate temperatures down to 30°F, but prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures will damage the plant.
Orange Bird of Paradise is recommended for Zones 10-12. It can be grown in our region with adequate protection from freezing temperatures.
