I also appreciate the little silicone pattern on the bottom that keeps it from moving around since we take it in the car. I can’t speak to the self warming piece though. We have a self warming bed for our cat and it has reflective fabric on it similar to what you find in a Columbia omniheat coat. This has nothing like that. Either way it is our puppies favorite mat and so far one of the few he hasn’t chewed to bits. That alone makes it 5 stars for me.
