The Old Man Palm is native to the Caribbean. It’s a solitary palm with fan-shaped dark green palmate leaves that form a mesmerizing spiral pattern atop a short wooly mesh that beard the trunk in its entirety. On average the Old Man palm grows to 8-10 ft in height though It’s been recorded as tall as 30 ft. 

The Old Man Palm enjoys tropical climates with high humidity sheltered from wind but also does well in warm temperate climates surviving the occasional light frost without damage. Once past the slow seedling stage, its growth pattern quickens.
