Lavandula x intermedia 'Grosso' is a world-famous, sterile hybrid lavender prized for its exceptionally strong fragrance, long sturdy flower spikes, and abundant, deep violet-blue blooms. This vigorous Lavandin cultivar forms a dense, upright, mounding shrub of aromatic, gray-green to silvery-green foliage (leaves emerge green, aging to silvery-gray). From mid to late summer, it produces an impressive display of long, thick, densely packed flower spikes rising well above the foliage, covered in small, tubular, deep violet-blue flowers. The flowers are renowned for their intense, camphor-rich lavender fragrance, making 'Grosso' one of the most popular lavenders for commercial essential oil production, dried buds (culinary or sachets), and cut flowers. Highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, it also has excellent tolerance for heat, drought, deer, and poor, well-drained soils. Comprehensive wilderness medicine reference
Format: Paperback
First off, this book should be supplement to actual in-person first aid training and course work. I only have my background in Boy Scouts and work required first aid/cpr/stop the bleed response to base this upon. But there is no substitute for competent in-person and hands on training, even if you have excellent books for reference. That said, this book does have a very thorough guide on most issues that could be faced in wilderness and emergency situations. The cross over for urban use, would be situations like a natural disaster that renders hospitals and EMS unavailable or over capacity. It's a very affordable book for all the information it contains, and is published by a reputable school. NOLS has been teaching outdoors skills since it was formed in the 1960s. If you can keep a level head and have decent reading comprehension, this book lays out diagnostic and treatment advice for many life threatening injuries and accidents. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking to expand and supplement their knowledge beyond basic first aid and CPR.
