A unique evergreen, the Fernspray Hinoki Cypress has a natural upright growth habit with thin branches ending in deep green, fern-like sprays of foliage. Pinch off a leaf tip and crush it for the classic Hinoki fragrance.

I'm Luca, from the mountainous areas of central Japan. My admirers like my full upright stature and refreshing lemon-scent. My wood is rot-resistant, which is why you find me used to build Japanese temples and baths. In the spring, you'll see globulous pine cones on my needles and tiny pollen cones at my tips.

I like full to partial sun, about 3-6 hours per day, and will take water when my pot starts to dry. Keep me outside at all times to help me get the full spectrum of light, and remember to water me first. Remember I am an outdoor tree, and must live outside year-round! In the winter, I like to rest up, stay dormant, and complete my annual cycle in the cold weather; so make sure my temps stay below 50 degrees.

Symbolism: In Feng Shui, Hinoki is believed to possess the element of Water. This is a symbol of wisdom as it's thought to naturally balance other prominent elements and effortlessly promote harmony and equilibrium in a space. Its Chi, 'Kan,' represents penetrating insight; coupled with its Water element, this tree is an auspicious choice for anyone looking to purify and cleanse negative energy in a space in order to cultivate harmony, balance, and insight.
