Their drought tolerance has earned them a reputation as plants that are difficult to kill, but without ample direct light they will never thrive, and will often slowly deteriorate. When kept in a sunny location they like a light to moderate watering when they’ve dried out, but during the summer months your cactus may be thirstier than usual, and may want no water at all for a few months of winter.
