The “flowers” of the this plant are some of the longest-lasting flowers amongst the flowering plants, which means that vivid color will last in your home for months. The Anthurium symbolizes hospitality with its open heart-shaped flower and inspires happiness and abundance.
The fun part is that the Flowers are actually modified leaves. The true flowers of the plant grow from the center of these modified leaf structure called an inflorescence.
Originally found in areas of the Andes Mountain range in Colombia and Ecuador, this beauty enjoys a warm spot in your home with a bit of extra humidity.
The Plant get their name from the Greek words “anthos” and “oura,” meaning “tail flower.
Anthurium likes bright indirect light. Direct sun may burn the leaves. For more blooms expose the plant to more indirect light
Water when the top 50-75% of the soil is dry. Water until liquid flows through the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot and discard any water that has accumulated in the saucer.
Anthurium prefers temperatures range of 18 - 30 degrees during the day and no cooler than 15 degrees at night. Avoid placing your plants directly in front of AC or Heating vent
Being tropical Anthurium loves a humid environment, so feel free to mist every day.
FOOD
Feed once a month during the spring and summer with a liquid fertilizer for indoor plants.
TOXICITY
These plants are mildly toxic to pets and humans. Typically, ingestion will cause mouth and skin irritation, stomach pain and irritation with possible vomiting.
Quickly remove fading or dying flowers as soon as they appear. This helps the plant focus its energy on new growth. Anthurium produce more flowers in the spring and summer.
