INCI: Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract. Lavender extract (Lavandula angustifolia, CAS 90063-37-9) is obtained by aqueous extraction and contains rosmarinic acid, flavonoids and tannins. These water-soluble polyphenols define the soothing and antioxidant profile.

Application in the cosmetics industry

The aqueous extract is free from essential oils and therefore free from declarable fragrance allergens. In the cosmetics industry, lavender extract is used for soothing skin care and problem skin. Rosmarinic acid has an antimicrobial effect. Typical applications include night creams, body lotions and acne products.
