Few plants command a room quite like a mature Anthurium vittarifolium. Its leaves are extraordinarily long, narrow, and pendant, hanging vertically from the plant like green ribbons. In ideal conditions, they can reach well over a metre in length, creating a cascading curtain of foliage that looks as dramatic mounted on a wall as it does in a hanging planter. It also produces clusters of vivid red berries along a drooping spadix, adding further interest. This is a statement Anthurium loved by many collectors.

Origins
Native to the tropical rainforests of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil, Anthurium vittarifolium grows as an epiphyte high in the canopy. Its pendant leaf habit is an adaptation to its elevated position, allowing leaves to hang freely rather than compete for horizontal space.

Soil and Substrate
As an epiphyte, Anthurium vittarifolium needs an exceptionally open, fast-draining substrate. Our Anthurium Premium Potting Mix is peat-free and formulated for epiphytic Anthuriums: bark, charcoal, coco husk, lava rock, and pumice for long-lasting structure and root aeration.

Demons and Their Food
Format: Paperback
It is a truly fascinating story, interspersed with recipes of famous dishes. It is a tale of food, spices, and people. It is people who make the food all the more enticing, the people who grow and sell the spices, the cooks who spend hours and days preparing food. They give of their time and enhance the food with their passion for it. But there is an old demon in this story, and he is a cook too. He eats enormous amounts of food, because of people. He eats people because of the food. He hires a young delicious filmmaker to tell his story. Will the filmmaker become a meal for the demon? Has he come under the spell of the demon? Will he become a demon himself? What will happen to the demon? What of the people who are hunting him?
