Anthurium pedatum

Anthurium pedatum is a Colombian Anthurium with deeply divided leaves that spread from the petiole into narrow, finger-like lobes. The leaf shape gives the plant an open, finely segmented outline with glossy green surfaces and long petioles.

This species is native to wet tropical forest in Colombia, where steady moisture, warmth and filtered light shape its growth. In a pot, it develops as a compact divided-leaf Anthurium, with attention on new leaves opening smoothly, an airy root zone and stable humidity.

Divided Colombian foliage

  • Leaf shape: Mature leaves are deeply palmatifid, with multiple narrow lobes radiating from the blade.
  • Leaf colour: The foliage is green and glossy, with detail concentrated in the narrow lobes and open outline.
  • Growth habit: It develops from a compact stem, with long petioles carrying divided blades above the base.
  • Origin: The species is native to Colombia and associated with wet tropical forest conditions.
  • Leaf development: New leaves can open with softer, less defined division before the blade firms and spreads.
  • Pot behaviour: Long petioles need room around the plant so the divided blades can open freely.

Pot growth and leaf expansion

The leaf blade of Anthurium pedatum is deeply split. Mature foliage can carry many narrow lobes, giving each leaf a hand-shaped outline with fine segmentation. Because the leaves are held on petioles above a compact base, the plant benefits from a steady position where new growth has space to expand clearly.

The root zone should stay lightly moist while still draining freely. A dense, compact substrate can stay wet too long around Anthurium roots, while a chunky aroid mix keeps air moving through the pot after watering.

Growing conditions for Anthurium pedatum

  • Substrate: Use an airy aroid mix with bark, coarse fibre and mineral drainage material so air returns around the roots after watering.
  • Watering: Water when the upper layer of substrate starts to lose moisture, then let excess water drain away fully.
  • Light: Give bright filtered light. Direct sun can mark the divided leaf lobes, especially while new growth is still soft.
  • Humidity: Moderate to high humidity helps new divided leaves open without sticking or tearing at the lobes.
  • Temperature: Keep it warm and stable. Cold wet substrate can damage roots and slow new leaf development.
  • Pot choice: Use a pot that balances the long petioles and gives the root system enough air after watering.
  • Leaf care: Wipe the lobes gently with a soft damp cloth when dust collects along the divisions.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth with a balanced fertiliser. Flush the pot occasionally if mineral salts collect in the substrate.

Leaf problems on Anthurium pedatum

  • Torn new leaves: Dry air or friction around the emerging blade can leave divided lobes damaged before they harden.
  • Brown lobe tips: Check for dry roots, mineral build-up, direct sun or irregular watering.
  • Yellowing lower leaves: Wet, compact substrate can reduce oxygen around the roots and lead to yellowing.
  • Weak or smaller leaves: Very low light or root stress can reduce leaf size and make division less pronounced.
  • Pests: Check the underside of the lobes and petiole bases for thrips, spider mites and scale.

Safe handling for Anthurium pedatum

Anthurium pedatum is not pet-safe. Like other Anthurium species, it contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that can irritate the mouth, throat and digestive tract if chewed. Keep it away from pets and small children, and wash your hands after pruning or handling sap.

Botanical notes on Anthurium pedatum

Anthurium pedatum is an accepted species in Araceae and is native to Colombia. The name was published in 1841. The plant has deeply divided, palmately arranged foliage on long petioles above a compact base.

As each leaf matures, Anthurium pedatum forms an airy crown of glossy green lobes on long petioles.

Repurchasing for sure
Color: Zero Pore Pads, Size: 70 Count (Pack of 1)
These toner pads have genuinely made my skin look smoother, brighter, and more refreshed. They’re super easy to use and feel really gentle while still giving noticeable results. My skin feels cleaner and softer after using them, and I’ve especially noticed improvement in texture and overall glow. I also love that the pads are really saturated without dripping everywhere, and they don’t irritate my skin. They’ve become such an easy part of my routine, especially on days when I want my skin to look extra fresh and glowy. Definitely one of the better skincare purchases I’ve made lately.

medicube Dual-Textured Facial Pads for Exfoliation and Pore Care
Color: Zero Pore Pads, Size: 70 Count (Pack of 1)
If you’ve spent any time on skincare social media, you’ve likely seen these white tubs with bright blue lids. The Medicube Zero Pore Pad 2.0 is a cult-favorite K-Beauty staple designed for those who struggle with "strawberry nose," excess sebum, and texture. It isn't just a toner; it’s a mechanical and chemical exfoliant hybrid. The Dual-Action Design The "2.0" version features a pre-soaked, double-sided pad that serves two distinct purposes: 1. Embossed Side: Provides gentle physical exfoliation to lift away dead skin cells and debris. 2. Silky Side: Polishes the skin and hydrates, prepping the face for the rest of your routine. The Pros: Why It’s a Bestseller • Noticeable Texture Improvement: Within a week of consistent use, most users notice a significant reduction in "bumps" and a smoother surface for makeup application. • Effective Sebum Control: It contains a "Pore Tightening Complex" (including lemongrass and mint peel) that helps keep midday oiliness at bay without stripping the skin bone-dry. • Clean and Convenient: The tub comes with a secondary lid and tweezers, keeping the pads saturated and hygienic. • The "Glow" Factor: Because it uses AHAs and BHAs (Salicylic Acid and Betaine Salicylate), it clears out the "gunk" inside pores, making them appear smaller and the skin look brighter. The Cons: What to Watch For • Fragrance: These pads have a distinct, slightly medicinal/citrus scent. While refreshing to some, it may be irritating if you have a high sensitivity to added fragrance. • Tingling Sensation: If your skin barrier is compromised or you are very sensitive, you might feel a slight sting. It’s a potent exfoliant, not a soothing toner. • Price Point: Compared to basic drugstore toners, Medicube sits at a premium. You are paying for the convenience of the pre-soaked formulation and the specific patented ingredients.

Great product, great price!
Color: Zero Pore Pads, Size: 70 Count (Pack of 1)
These toner pads have been amazing for my skin! They leave my face feeling incredibly smooth, refreshed, and clean, and I’ve definitely noticed an improvement in texture and overall glow. I especially love using them while removing my makeup because they make my skin feel extra fresh and clean afterward. I do notice they leave a slight semi-dry/tight feeling on my skin at first, but once I rinse and apply moisturizer, my skin feels absolutely amazing — soft, balanced, and hydrated. The pads are well soaked, easy to use, and make my skincare routine feel so much more effective. I’ll definitely continue using them! I also feel they work just as great and are not as over priced as so many others out there.

They really do work!
Color: Zero Pore Pads, Size: 70 Count (Pack of 1)
I rarely give reviews that aren’t motivated by disappointment, but this is one of them. Medicube makes several products that I use alongside $170 serums and creams, and the Zero Pore Pad is one of them. I love the dual texture, and even after using a pre-cleanser and a “microfolient” face wash (both expensive washes from by Dermologica), the Zero Pore Pad is my ONLY choice for a toner. Compared to the products that go on after using the pads, the pads are incredibly affordable for the results I’ve seen. On the rougher side of the pad, this toner still somehow finds pockets of sebum that are visible on the pad after using as directed. It’s like magic. I’m on my third container of Zero Pore Pads and I can say, without a doubt, they have had noticeable results on my skin, mostly on my nose and the cheek area around my nose. The size of my pores are now smaller, almost invisible. This is despite the fact that I layer a bunch of serums, creams and a moisturizer at night that I lock in with the peel-off Medicube collagen mask. Despite the weight of it all on my pores, the pads still have worked, and they aren’t harsh like some toners-but if you have very sensitive skin or are on acne medication, go with their milder sister product). I wash my face three times a day due to the ick of polluted air and layers of moisturizer and sunscreen, so I’ve been using these three times a day, but occasionally I use the Koji and Tumeric Pads, which have had no noticeable effect aside from serving as a basic toner. The application is lovely on all Medicube’s pads with their dual texture, but like the collagen mask these Zero Pore Pads really do work (for me). Because skin varies with age and melanin content, I am a pale white woman (female at birth) of Scandinavian descent so I don’t know if these would have had the same impact on me at age 17, but now they work, really well. I literally have the glass skin K-beauty prizes—I just used the pads and thought I had something on my face because my skin was shining. I love these, try them!

Good toner pad option
Color: Zero Pore Pads, Size: 70 Count (Pack of 1)
I like these to use no more than 1-2x a week for my skin. I use them before bed and wake up noticing smoother and more event toned skin. If you use them too often, they can cause redness and irritation, but I have never gotten a rash or a breakout because of them. I will say, they do not exfoliate all your texture away and refine your pores to perfection like the marketing says, but nothing does. The AHA and BHA are the chemical exfoliants and work just like they do in any other product. The pads are very moist and stay saturated in the container as long as you keep the lid shut. Overall, a good toner pad option to be used occasionally in your routine and do not mix with any other actives.
