Grow Delicious, Antioxidant-Rich Pomegranates in Your Own Backyard

Yardwork pomegranate trees help you grow fresh, sweet, ruby-red fruit at home without relying on expensive grocery-store pomegranates every season.

Designed for California gardens and similar warm, sunny climates, these productive trees bring together edible beauty, strong fruit quality, and the health benefits that make pomegranate one of the most valued backyard superfruits. The pomegranate tree, known scientifically as Punica granatum, can grow between 12 to 30 feet tall, typically reaching heights of 12-15 feet in cultivation.

Plant one tree, give it full sun and well drained soil, and begin the journey toward homegrown arils, juice, salads, sauces, desserts, and fresh eating from your own garden.

Why You’ll Love Our Pomegranate Trees

  • Produces abundant antioxidant-rich fruit – Cold Hardy Pomegranate trees can produce up to 100 pounds of fruit annually from a single mature tree, making them highly productive even in cooler climates.

  • Helps reduce grocery-store dependence – A healthy, established pomegranate tree can save hundreds of dollars over time compared to buying premium pomegranates at retail market prices.

  • Supports a healthy lifestyle – Pomegranates are loaded with antioxidants, which are believed to help reduce cholesterol, control weight, fight cell damage, and lower the risk of cancer and heart disease.

  • Gives you more than edible seeds – The juice of pomegranates is as beneficial as the pulp and seeds, providing a rich source of vitamins and minerals.

  • Adds beauty to the landscape – Vibrant red-orange flowers, glossy foliage, thick branching, and colorful fruit make pomegranate trees both productive and ornamental, fitting beautifully into flowering tree designs for California gardens.

  • Works with one tree – Pomegranate trees are self-fruitful and can produce fruit with only one tree, although planting multiple trees can enhance pollination and yield.

  • Built for low-maintenance gardens – These pomegranate trees prefer full sun and can adapt to various soil types as long as the soil is well-drained, making them versatile for different planting conditions and easy to incorporate when planning your ideal Yardwork landscape.

  • Drought tolerant once established – With mulch to conserve moisture and occasional deep watering, a mature tree can thrive with less routine care than many fruit trees.

What Makes Our Pomegranate Trees Different

Most nurseries sell generic pomegranate trees, often emphasizing ornamental growth over fruit quality, cold hardiness, and long-term productivity.

Yardwork pomegranate trees are selected differently:

  • Climate-ready for California – Standard pomegranate varieties perform best in USDA Zones 8–10, while cold-hardy cultivars are suitable for Zones 6–7, giving Yardwork customers a broader range of planting options when pairing with drought-tolerant ornamentals like the California pepper tree.

  • Selected for real fruit use – The desired fruit purpose and taste should be considered when selecting pomegranate varieties, with options for sweet eating, tart juicing, or ornamental use.

  • Better starting stock – Smaller trees adapt faster and are easier to prune into preferred shapes than older, root-bound trees.

  • Grown for faster establishment – Yardwork focuses on healthy root systems, strong new growth, and nursery stock suited to local soil and sun exposure.

  • Chosen for culinary value – Depending on the pomegranate variety, fruit can deliver a sweet, tart, juicy, or unique flavor for fresh eating, juice, sauces, salads, desserts, and bright acidity alongside homegrown citrus fruit trees.

The result is a collection of pomegranate trees for sale that are not just beautiful, but productive, practical, and cultivated for long-term garden performance.

How To Have Success With Your Pomegranate Tree

  1. Plant in the right location Choose a sunny garden site with full sun, good airflow, and well drained soil. Pomegranate trees thrive in hot, sunny locations and require 150-200 chill hours for optimal fruit production, making them well-suited for warmer climates.

  2. Water, mulch, and shape the tree Water deeply during establishment, then reduce frequency as the tree becomes drought tolerant. Add mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture, protect soil temperature, and support steady growth. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth to shape the tree and remove suckers or crossing branches.

  3. Harvest homegrown fruit Many pomegranate trees begin producing fruit in 2–3 years, with stronger harvests as the tree matures. Expect 50–100 pounds of ruby-red fruit from a productive mature tree in the right climate and care conditions, similar to the yields you can enjoy from a mature avocado tree in your landscape.

  4. Use every part of the harvest Enjoy the arils and edible seeds fresh, press them for juice, pulse them into smoothies, or add them to salads, sauces, and desserts. Pomegranate peel contains the most antioxidants, which are released in abundance when the fruit is juiced or pulsed in smoothies.

Simple care, strong sun, and well-drained soil are the foundation. Avoid planting in soggy locations, because excess moisture creates risk for root problems and poor fruit development.

Can pomegranate trees survive California’s climate variations?
Yes. Pomegranate trees thrive in hot, sunny locations and require 150-200 chill hours for optimal fruit production, making them well-suited for warmer climates. Standard pomegranate varieties perform best in USDA Zones 8–10, while cold-hardy cultivars are suitable for Zones 6–7.

No. Pomegranate trees are self-fruitful and can produce fruit with only one tree, although planting multiple trees can enhance pollination and yield.

What if my tree doesn’t establish properly?
Establishment problems are usually linked to poor drainage, not enough sun, overwatering, planting too deep, or winter cold stress. Yardwork helps reduce that risk with California-grown stock, planting guidance, and a guarantee designed to support a successful arrival and planting experience.

Almost too accurate
Format: Kindle
Another absolutely amazing book in the series, it was scary how exactly on point the actions of various agencies and governments was in this book. It would all play out like this too, absolute chaos for short term gains that in the grand scheme of things mean nothing - almost felt like I was reading "Don't look up" but with gold and silver rankers. As much as I didn't like a certain character and his family, he came through and his private chat brought a tear to my eye. Great job as always, the characters are phenomenal, but like Jason - I'm really ready to be done with Earth, what a dumpster fire.

One Step Too Far But Otherwise Great
Format: Kindle
Huge fan of this series and the multiverse that it has created. I often find find myself laughing out loud at the irreverent main characters quips. I've been five stars all the way for every book so far but I had to drop a star for a very specific reason. This was the first time I was negatively pulled out of the reading experience in this series. (Though, definitely not the first time lol. That totally random, albeit delicious, recipe for lemonade pulled me out that one rime but it wasn't an unpleasant experience). Spoilers follow: Jason's final words to his dead brother's spirit were so inappropriate and crass that I very much hope this isn't the direction that Jason's character is growing toward. I outwardly cringed and had to put the book down for a few days because I wasn't sure this was a character I wanted to continue to read about after reading those lines. Aside from that it was a great book. I truly hope this was a one-off and simply poorly written vs something we can expect more of going forward. Cringe humor can be funny but there's a limit that was drastically overstepped in that line.

Loved it!
Format: Kindle
There seems to be many books out there now with the fake girlfriend/boyfriend, fake girlfriend/girlfriend, or fake fiance/spouse. I actually like this particular trope quite a lot. Some are OK, bad or good. This novel falls in the last category. I really liked this book and will definitely be re-reading it sometime in the future. Tansy and Gemma are very likeable as individuals. As a couple, they have amazing chemistry very early on. One of the best things I liked about this novel is that the author doesn't make us wait until the end of the book for the characters to acknowledge their attraction. They become a true couple early on despite almost everyone thinking it is not real. The writing is well done and I really really liked the main characters. (Have I said that enough times?) There was definitely some heat too! Everything THIS woman is looking for from a romance novel. Definitely recommend. I give it 4 ¾ stars.

I'm a Total Goner
Format: Kindle
🦇 The Fiancée Farce Book Review 🦇 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ❝ She was a total goner. Whatever magic Tansy was made of, Gemma wanted to drown in it, revel in the honeyed heat burning her up from the inside out. It was better than the finest bourbon she’d ever had the pleasure of sipping. ❞ 🦇 After losing her parents and a traumatic romantic experience as a teen, Tansy Adams focuses all her time and energy on her late father's bookstore. To dodge questions about her love life, Tansy invents Gemma, a fake girlfriend inspired by the stunning cover model on a best-selling romance book. She never expected that real-life Gemma would step into her life, play along, and announce they were engaged, imploding that white lie into a full-on farce. Gemma van Dalen, the outcast of her wealthy family, needs a spouse to inherit Van Dalen Publishing; her grandmother's legacy. In exchange for Tansy's hand in marriage, Gemma offers to save Tansy's beloved bookstore before it's sold off. Can their marriage of convenience work, or will Gemma's scheming family get between them? ❝ "As for feeling like you’ve failed, well, failure is an inescapable part of life. But failing doesn’t make you a failure. And I’m sorry your father made you feel like the two were synonymous. You are more than your achievements, Gemma. You are brilliant, and ambitious, and you are good, do you hear me? And what you do or do not achieve in this life has no bearing on your value.” ❞ 💜 Oh. My. Goddess. That's right: goddess, because that's exactly what these two cunning, sassy women are. Alexandria Bellefleur has taken the generally predictable "marriage of convenience" trope and turned it into an emotional, powerful story about finding the love you don't realize you deserve. Both Tansy and Gemma are full of so much pain, their family trees full of broken branches (and in Gemma's case, poisonous barbs). For them to find love and family in one another so unexpectedly (for them, at least, because, come on, that's what we're here for), so flawlessly...it's not only swoon-worthy and sweet, but a relief. It's the insane, instant, undeniable chemistry between Tansy and Gemma that empowers their every interaction from the start, but unlike other marriage-of-convenience stories, smut doesn't drive their relationship. What starts off as a business relationship blossoms from a friendship to a true partnership. Gemma is sweet and giving as she navigates her first real relationship, while Tansy comes out of her shell to defend Gemma when no one else has. These goddesses support one another, even when the relationship is only a farce, until it all becomes real. The character development between them both is a flawless example of how empowering love--and having someone by your side--can really be. 🦇 As much as I loved every interaction between Gemma and Tansy, it's difficult to love everything that happens outside of their sweet sapphic bubble. The toxic men--namely Tucker, Gemma's cousin, who manipulated teenage Tansy and shared underage nudes of her--seem unrealistically cruel. Tansy's step-mother goes from a social ladder-climbing step-Bridzilla to suddenly sympathetic. None of the secondary characters have real layers, making them no more than pawns to the story's plot progression. Because of that, none of the conflicts or twists are surprising. The boardroom scene/resolution seemed beyond unrealistic, regardless of how sweet the gesture was. You may need to expand your suspension of disbelief and focus on the sapphic sweetness for this one. 🦇 Recommended for fans of Stars Collide, Cleat Cute, and Love at First Set. This heartwarming sapphic romance is full of feels; a stunning addition to any shelf. ✨ The Vibes ✨ 🩷 Fake Dating 🩷 Marriage of Convenience 🩷 Bi MCs (Bi4Bi) 🩷 Sapphic Romance 🩷 Mental Health Rep 🩷 Opposites Attract

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The perfect witty, banter-laden escape, even if predictable for me, which isn’t even that part of the comfort and fun?
