It is an upright growing succulent that grows basal branches to form a small shrub up to 12 inches (30 cm) tall. The stems are round and corky, bearing round grey-green succulent leaves that are arranged neatly in 4 distinct rows towards the branch tips.
  
  Portulaca molokiniensis produces clusters of tiny lemon yellow cup-shaped flowers at the ends of leafless stems that rise above the foliage.
  
  Plants may be shipped bare root.
