🌿 Curved curly green and cream white leaves • 🪝 Hanging pot with hook included • ☀️ Indirect light to partial shade • 💧 Moderate watering • 🌬️ Air-purifying • 🐾 Non-toxic

Chlorophytum comosum 'Bonnie', or Curly Spider Plant, is a trailing plant native to South Africa and tropical regions. A curly variant of the classic Chlorophytum, its long arched leaves with green and cream white highlights naturally curl at the tips — a more compact and bushy habit than the straight variety. Delivered in its hanging pot with integrated hook. H35 cm | Pot Ø17 cm.

Air-purifying, very easy to care for, non-toxic to pets. Discover it in our selection of trailing plants.

Which Chlorophytum variety to choose?

Chlorophytum comosum comes in several varieties:

  • Chlorophytum 'Bonnie' (this plant) — curly and frizzy green and cream white leaves, compact and bushy habit. The most original.
  • Chlorophytum Variegatum — straight and long green and cream white leaves, classic trailing habit. The most classic.
  • Chlorophytum Ocean — thin green and silvery white leaves, very compact. The most delicate.

'Bonnie' variety is ideal for small spaces — its curly and compact habit takes up less room than varieties with long straight leaves. Find all our hanging plants in our hanging plants collection.

Light & location

  • Ideal light: moderate indirect light to partial shade.
  • Tolerates: low light — one of the most shade-tolerant plants.
  • Avoid: direct sunlight which burns and discolors the leaves.
  • Variegation: in too low light, leaves tend to turn green — moderate indirect light preserves the cream white highlights.
  • Temperature: 15–25 °C.

Hanging near a window with indirect light, its curly leaves elegantly cascade on all sides. Check our light and humidity guide to find the right spot.

Watering & care

  • Watering: moderate — let the substrate dry slightly between waterings.
  • Frequency: about once a week in spring-summer, every 2 weeks in winter.
  • Drainage: pot with drainage hole and saucer — empty after watering.
  • Humidity: tolerates dry apartment air.
  • Fertilizer: diluted liquid green plant fertilizer, once a month in spring-summer.

Chlorophytum stores water in its tuberous roots — it tolerates missed waterings very well. Check our finger test guide to never overwater.

Decor ideas & plant combinations

Its curly and trailing habit makes it a very decorative hanging plant — its frizzy leaves create a compact and generous cascading plant effect.

  • Hanging: hang it with its integrated hook near a window — its curly leaves cascade like a natural green curtain.
  • In combination: pair it with an Epipremnum Golden or a Tradescantia Zebrina for a trailing plant composition with highly contrasting foliage.
  • Style: natural, Bohemian, urban jungle — its green and cream white tones match all interiors.

Its stolons — the thin stems growing from the plant’s center — carry small plantlets you can easily propagate. Check our propagation guide to multiply your plant.

Verdeia tips

  • Propagate easily — the small plantlets that appear at the ends of stolons root easily in a glass of water or directly in substrate. A simple way to share or fill other pots.
  • Brown tips indicate hard water — switch to filtered or rested water (24 h) to fix this. Cut damaged tips at an angle for a clean result. Check our diagnosis guide to quickly identify any problem.
  • 🐾 Non-toxic — Chlorophytum is completely safe for dogs and cats. A valuable advantage for pet households.

Fantastic for rosacea, PD, atopic dermatitis, dry skin
I’ve been using this for close to a year and it is amazing for my super sensitive and dry skin. I have perioral dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, and rosacea and live in Minnesota with bitter cold and the heater running over half the year. Cicalfate cream doesn’t flare any of these and it helps reduce redness and completely resolves dry skin. I use about a pea size amount AM and PM,, apply to dry skin, massage in, then mist with the Avene thermal water spray. Although the cream is thick, the slight white cast absorbs within a few minutes. I do not wear foundation so I don’t know how this affects it.it doesn’t burn my eyes and I’m a contact lens wearer. A big tube of cream lasts me the better part of a year.

Great for harsh winters
I was recommended this product by ChatGPT as an effective and safe product that my wife (who is currently nursing) can use. We have been very mindful of certain additives and chemicals in our products and this was able to meet our requirements. Separately in the harsh winter in the northeast, this has been extremely effective in protecting the lips

Ruined by Reformulation
New formula update: They ruined this product by reformulating. Used to be so hydrating, long-lasting, and the only thing that gave me relief from eczema. Now it is somehow SO drying, oily, and all around terrible. Judging by reviews here and on their website many customers are unhappy with the change. Done with Avene. Original five star review: This is a great all around lip balm, but if you struggle with perioral dermatitis/eczema then you NEED this. If I'm experiencing a flare, I slather on cicalfate+ at night but I can't exactly walk around with that during the day which is where this lip product comes in. It is calming, hydrating, and long-lasting. I have gone through more tubes than I can count. This was my first time ordering through amazon and I am happy to report I received authentic Avene.

It’s a God Send
I had a rash all around my lips and my lips got extremely dried out and started to peel. I used Avene Cicalfate Restorative Lip Cream and it really soothed my lips with the moisture they needed, and you don’t need to use a lot of this product. I plan on buying this again. Just wish the tube was bigger! I use other Avene products and I’m extremely happy with them.

Holy Grail Moisturizer for Rosacea
Style: Restorative Protective Cream-3.3 Fl Oz
In seeing so many negative reviews I felt compelled to weigh in as this is my favorite moisturizer. I have very dry, menopausal skin. Additionally, I have rosacea which seems to have been a nice gift from said menopause (you can only laugh, right?). It's very common for those of us in our 50's to have a compromised skin barrier and when an issue like rosacea is present, even more so. Because of all this my skin is very intolerant to most moisturizers and nearly all actives (over the last few years I've had to discontinue my retinols and chemical exfoliators). While ingredients like ALA's, petrolatum, mineral oil, parafin/bees wax, and lanolin are well tolerated and known to be quite soothing, they don't hydrate very well as they are more occlusive than moisturizing. Enter this product. Magically, it does both! It's marketed as a protective cream, which again implies occlusive, but it penetrates like no other. Gone is the tight, dry feeling that persisted even when I had a heavy layer of product on my skin (my previous moisturizer was Eucerin Original Healing Cream -- which still has its uses -- because it was the only thing I could put on my skin outside of squalane oil during a flare). Now, no topical can cure rosacea. However, the right product can calm the skin, repair the damaged lipid barrier, and improve its appearance. This moisturizer does just that and it's become my holy grail. Since starting this I've also added in the Cicalfate Serum which has only aided in repairing my skin. Another Avene product that works great for me is the XeraCalm Balm which helps with itching. I use all three of these daily and they've really helped fix the secondary issues that come with rosacea. As for the complaints about it being greasy or too heavy. I can see this not working for people with normal or oily skin (or perhaps only in moderation). But my skin loves the heavier weight and because one of the ways I soothe a flare is to keep a tiny mister bottle on hand and repeatedly spray my face so I have to guard against the drying effects of evaporation. These products are so lipid heavy that I can wet my face all day long without worrying about that, though I do reapply throughout the day. As for the watery consistency issue, I haven't had that problem but it does caution on the packaging not to expose the product to temperatures below 41 degrees F (5 C). I suspect that if it gets too cold either because of the weather or because of whatever warehouse it sat in during transit it will separate. Maybe open the package and before squeezing some out look to see if it has split and then shake it up/message the tube. So, if you have skin like mine don't hesitate to try this product. I'm leaving this absurdly long review for my struggling brothers and sisters out there with rosacea in hopes that it provides some relief! Happy moisturizing, internet strangers. ;)
