What makes this plant so extraordinary is its new growth: leaves emerge in vivid, almost neon bubblegum pink to hot red, with an almost rubbery, pleated texture that looks barely real, before gradually fading through warm intermediate tones to a deep, glossy emerald green at full maturity. On an established plant with leaves at multiple stages of development, the contrast between incoming pink leaves and mature green ones is genuinely spectacular. Mature leaves are large, broad, and heart-shaped, reaching up to two feet in length, with attractively corrugated surface texture and prominent venation that remains visually compelling even after the color show has ended. A slow grower that crawls along the ground or spreads in a pot rather than climbing, it is a compact, self-contained specimen plant. Extremely rare in collections and not found in any other known location in the wild, it is among the most coveted species-level philodendrons available.

• Light: Bright indirect light ideal. Supports deep leaf coloration and steady growth without stressing the large, glossy leaves. No direct sun — causes yellowing and bleaching of both emerging and mature foliage.
• Water: Water when top 1-2" of medium is dry. Thick, somewhat leathery leaves store some moisture making this more drought tolerant than many philodendrons — but never allow extended dry periods. Excellent drainage essential to prevent root rot. Use filtered or lukewarm water where possible.
• Humidity: 65-75% preferred. High, stable humidity supports the rubbery texture and lush appearance of both new and mature foliage. A humidifier is strongly recommended.
• Soil: Chunky, well-draining mix rich in organic matter — orchid bark, perlite, sphagnum moss, and coco coir. As a terrestrial crawler it does not need climbing support — choose a wide, shallow pot to accommodate its spreading growth habit.
• Fertilizer: Balanced liquid fertilizer with calcium and magnesium at half strength every 2-4 weeks during active growth. Slow grower — consistent low-level nutrition is preferable to heavy irregular feeding. Reduce in winter.
• Temperature: 60-78°F (15-26°C). Prefers intermediate to warm conditions. Keep above 55°F. No cold drafts or temperature swings.
• Toxicity: Toxic to humans and pets if ingested. Contains calcium oxalate crystals causing irritation and swelling of the mouth, throat, and digestive tract.
