A Timely and Transformational Guide to Meaningful Connection
Format: Paperback
In People Skills: Your Relationships Are Only as Strong as Your Skills, Debra Fileta delivers a powerful and practical roadmap for anyone who desires deeper, healthier, and more intentional relationships. In a world dominated by screens and surface-level interactions, this book is a much-needed wake-up call that reminds us: connection is not automatic—it’s cultivated. What makes this book stand out is its balance of spiritual wisdom and psychological insight. Fileta masterfully weaves together biblical truth with clinical expertise, offering 31 actionable skills that are not only easy to understand but immediately applicable. From learning how to truly listen, to navigating conflict with grace, to understanding attachment styles, each chapter feels like a personal coaching session designed to elevate your relational intelligence. This isn’t just theory—it’s transformation. Whether you’re a leader, pastor, entrepreneur, or simply someone who wants to love people better, this book equips you with the tools to “own your impact” and become more intentional in every interaction. The emphasis on empathy, communication, and emotional awareness is both refreshing and necessary. One of the most powerful aspects of this book is its heart. It’s not just about improving relationships for success—it’s about becoming a vessel of God’s love in how you engage with others. That perspective shifts everything. If you’re serious about growing in your relationships—personally, professionally, or spiritually—this book is a must-read. It will challenge you, sharpen you, and ultimately help you become a more effective and compassionate communicator.

Love Is Not Enough. Skill Makes It Work.
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
I genuinely loved this book. Debra’s core idea is simple but powerful: most relational problems are not caused by a lack of love, but by a lack of skill. That shift in perspective changes everything. It moves the conversation from “Do I care?” to “Am I communicating care in a healthy, effective way?” What I appreciated most is how practical the book is. It tackles real-life issues like triggers, communication, emotional intelligence, boundaries, and vulnerability, and turns them into skills you can actually practice. The emphasis on personal ownership was especially impactful for me. Instead of focusing on fixing other people, it invites you to ask, “What’s my role?” That question alone can transform a relationship. This is not a dense academic read. It is accessible, actionable, and deeply helpful. Whether you are married, dating, leading, or simply trying to grow, there is something here for you. If you want stronger relationships and greater emotional maturity, this book is well worth your time.

A must read, One of the most powerful books Ive read.
Format: Paperback
This book has not just impacted me personally, it has influenced my leadership as well. I found so much value in it that I brought it into my workplace. We’ve started using the conversation cards as icebreakers during team meetings, and the shift in engagement has been noticeable. The questions create space for authenticity, vulnerability, and deeper connection among staff. What used to be routine check-ins have become meaningful conversations. I am even considering using People Skills as our next workplace book club selection because its principles are so relevant to leadership, ministry, and team dynamics. The skills outlined in this book strengthen emotional intelligence, improve communication, and support healthier work culture, all while remaining rooted in faith. This book reminded me that loving people well is intentional work. It takes awareness, humility, and practice. People Skills has helped me grow in all three areas. I am grateful for what I’ve learned and highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to strengthen their relationships, lead more effectively, and become a better reflection of God’s love in everyday interactions.
