Each new leaf that unfurls brings a slightly different pattern, making it an endlessly interesting plant to watch develop. It is a self-heading Philodendron, meaning it grows upright rather than trailing.

Good for beginners? Yes. Birkin is easygoing, compact, and communicates clearly when it needs water. It grows slowly enough to be manageable but steadily enough to be rewarding — a great choice for a desk or tabletop.

Light needs: Bright indirect light keeps the white pinstripes most vivid and the growth most consistent. It tolerates medium light but the striping may become less defined. Avoid direct sun which can scorch the glossy leaves.

I had a previous catch all tray that I bought on amazon, it used buttons on the 4 corners to turn a flat cardboard into a tray. Over time, the catch all tray got filled up, not just with a wallet, keys and eyeglasses but eventually business cards and other knick knacks.
