Some Christmas moments deserve something special — a gift that feels warm, lasting and thoughtfully chosen. Our Anthurium ‘Lilli’ in a simple ceramic pot, paired with a beautifully scented candle from our handmade botanical range poured in a golden tin, makes a charming and heartfelt festive gift for someone who deserves a little brightness this season.

The Anthurium ‘Lilli’ brings a gentle sense of celebration to winter. Its soft blush-pink spathes rise gracefully above glossy heart-shaped leaves, adding calm colour and quiet warmth to the home. The blooms last for many weeks, offering a steady, uplifting presence during the darker days of December — a soft reminder of comfort, light and the small joys that carry us through the season.

The candle adds a warm, atmospheric glow, filling the space with a naturally balanced fragrance that complements the plant’s gentle character. Together, they create a gift that feels peaceful and welcoming — a small festive ritual of calm, light and winter cheer.

We’ll include a free handwritten Christmas card with your message. Just add your words at checkout and we’ll wrap everything beautifully, removing all pricing before delivery.

Size
Plant: 12 cm nursery pot, presented in a 14 cm ceramic pot.
Candle: 75 g gold tin, natural soy wax for a clean, even burn.

Native habitat and growth pattern
The Anthurium grows beneath the warm, filtered canopy of Central and South American rainforests, producing elegant spathes that protect clusters of tiny blooms. Its patient rhythm and long-lasting flowers make it a beautifully reassuring winter companion — steady, calm and quietly celebratory in the colder months.

Styling at home
The ceramic pot’s simple, timeless design pairs beautifully with the Anthurium’s soft pink tones, fitting effortlessly into festive interiors. Place it on a mantle beside winter candles, on a bedside table for a warm seasonal glow, or on a hallway console to welcome guests. The candle enhances the gentle ambience, making even small corners feel cosy and inviting.

Care requirements
Place in bright, indirect light and keep the compost lightly moist, allowing the top few centimetres to dry before watering again. Avoid cold draughts during winter. Feed monthly in spring and summer with Happy Houseplants Organic Vegan Plant Food to support healthy, steady growth.

Why choose this Christmas gift
Because the best festive gifts are those that feel thoughtful and lasting. This Anthurium and candle pairing brings warmth, colour and calm to winter days — a beautiful gesture of comfort and care that continues to shine long after Christmas has passed.

Interesting facts
• The pink “flower” of the Anthurium is actually a spathe — a specialised leaf shaped to protect its tiny blooms.
• Anthuriums are traditionally associated with warmth, positivity and appreciation — perfect for Christmas gifting.
• Each bloom lasts for weeks, offering gentle seasonal colour.

Format: Kindle
I think we need to get to know who our new leaders are going to be. This is one of the books on "Mad Dog"'s reading list. So far it has been very compelling and interesting. Having lived during the Colin Powell years and Bush years as a young impressionable youth to now see what was really going on and the thought behind it.

A good supplement to Clausewitz
Format: Paperback
This book is an excellent supplement to Clausewitz or Jomni or anything like that. It puts the parameters of strategy in the context of recent history. I liked that angle about it. You will get a new perspective on strategic thought through that for sure. I can't think of anything that does that for a reader. The nature of the material really would go over with readers who have a history on the topic and who work in the field. The downside to me is how the book supplements other material. It has awesome chapters on various aspects of strategy like technology. I liked the criticism of US policy in the Middle East. The author has some great points. However, the book needs a connecting thread among these chapters. It never clearly defines strategy and why it could or does for a nation. If you are in some staff college studying strategy, this book is your ticket to an A grade.

A Must for contemporary military and civilian leaders in national security
Format: Kindle
This is a very very useful work for members of the contemporary national security strategy community. While Hew's reputation as a historian is very high, it is his thoughtful and insightful comments that he makes in the latter chapters that lay out some of the critical challenges facing contemporary military and civilian leaders.

Astoundingly Good
Format: Kindle
This is a must have book. It is, beyond a doubt, the best book I have read on military strategy. The author is clear, provides case examples, and more importantly makes this "readable." I retired with 24 years on active duty and spent 15 more working in PMC's working in austere and conflict environments. THIS book is long overdue.

Thoughtful and deeply insightful
Format: Kindle
Browse not only goes over the current state of the US military in detail, but also ends with concrete and manageable suggestions to fix the major problems. Really good book.
