Introducing the trailing Hoya kerrii variegated, a stunning variety of Hoya kerrii. Native to Asia, these unique variegated hoya trailing vines come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, but the VariegatedHoya kerriisteals the show with its thick variegated heart-shaped leaves.

This variegated heart leaf hoya is one of our all-time favorites thanks to its unique and waxy foliage.

Each trailing vine hoya kerrii variegated leaf resembles a sweetheart's symbol of love, with a vivid creamy white, yellow, or even yellowish green variegation that adorns the leaves, creating a striking contrast against the dark green background.

The Hoya kerrii variegated can grow up to 13 feet long.

This slow-growing variegated Hoya kerrii is a popular choice for hanging baskets or as a trailing plant in indoor gardens. It's also a fantastic choice for vining up trellises or other supports.

When it comes to flowers, the variegated Hoya kerrii produces clusters of small, star-shaped blooms in the summer. The flowers are typically pale pink or white and emit a sweet fragrance, filling the air with a delightful scent. Although it might not bloom often indoors, this variegated hoya kerrii flowering plant is truly stunning to see when it does.

Additionally, we also offer the charming single-leaf Hoya heart plant, perfect for Valentine's Day or as a thoughtful way to express love. You may also adore the variegated version of this "heart-leaf" plant, a unique and heartfelt gift that makes a lasting impression.

When and How to Water Your Hoya Kerrii Variegated

When it comes to Hoya kerrii care, it's important to follow similar guidelines as its non-variegated counterpart. Just like the regular Hoya kerrii, it's best to allow the soil to dry out between waterings to prevent any potential root rot.

In the spring and summer, during the growing season, you can water your Hoya plant once every 1-2 weeks. However, it's crucial to adjust the watering frequency based on the specific needs of your plant and the conditions in your environment. Factors like humidity, temperature, and the size of the pot can all impact how often your plant requires water.

In the fall and winter, during the dormant season, you'll want to reduce the watering frequency to once every 2–4 weeks. Remember to always check the moisture level of the soil by sticking your finger about an inch into the soil. If it feels dry, it's a good indication that your plant is ready for a drink!

Light Requirements - Where to Place Your Hoya Kerrii Variegated

If growing indoors, the variegated Hoya kerrii loves bright, indirect light. It enjoys being in a spot where it can receive a few hours of bright, filtered sunlight each day. Placing it near a north- or east-facing window is usually a great choice, as it provides your trailing hoya vines with the right amount of light without direct exposure to the harsh afternoon sun.

If growing outdoors, your Hoya kerrii variegated thrives in full sun to partial shade. It's important to avoid placing your variegated Hoya kerrii in direct sunlight for a prolonged period, as it can scorch the leaves and cause damage.

If you notice that the leaves are turning yellow or brown, it might be a sign that your plant is getting too much sun. In that case, you can move it to a slightly shadier spot to protect it from excessive light.

If you notice that the leaves are becoming pale or stretching towards the light, it might be an indication that your variegated plant is not getting enough light.

In that case, you can gradually move it to a brighter location to ensure it receives adequate light for optimal growth.

Optimal Soil and Fertilizer Needs

The Hoya kerrii variegata prefers sandy, well-drained soil, as excess moisture can promote root and stem rot. Planet Desert specializes in succulents and has specialized succulent potting soil that includes an organic substrate with mycorrhizae to help with the growth of a healthy root system to help your variegated plant thrive. As an okay alternative, you can create your own potting mix by combining equal portions of perlite, coarse sand, and good natural potting variegated Hoya kerrii soil.

As for fertilizer, Hoya variegate doesn't require excessive feeding. You can use a balanced (5-10-5), water-soluble NPK fertilizer specifically formulated for houseplants. During the active growing season, which is typically spring, you can fertilize your plant once a year to encourage flowering. Be sure to dilute the fertilizer according to the instructions to avoid overfeeding.

It's important to note that during the dormant period, which is usually in the fall and winter, you should reduce or stop fertilizing altogether. This allows your Hoya plant to rest and prepare for new growth.

Hardiness Zone & More

When it comes to indoor growing, the variegated Hoya kerrii prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F. So, keeping it in a comfortable room temperature range is ideal. As for humidity, these tropical plants can tolerate average humidity indoors, but they appreciate a slightly higher humidity level, around 50–60%. You can increase humidity by placing a tray filled with water near your hanging plants or using a humidifier.

If you're considering growing your variegated Hoya kerrii outdoors, it's important to note that it is typically suitable for USDA hardiness zones 10–12 year-round.

It thrives in warm and tropical climates, with temperatures ranging from 65°F to 85°F.

However, if you live in a colder climate, you can still enjoy your Hoya kerrii outdoors during the summer months and bring it indoors before the temperatures drop below 60°F.

Remember, it's always a good idea to acclimate your lovely plant gradually to any changes in temperature or humidity. This helps prevent shock and allows your succulent to adjust comfortably.

How to Propagate Your Variegated Hoya Kerrii

The variegated Hoya kerrii can be propagated through stem cuttings. Simply take a healthy stem cutting with a few nodes and place it in a well-draining succulent soil. It's a rewarding process that allows you to expand your entire plant collection or share the joy of this plant with friends.

Key Takeaways

  1. With thick, heart-shaped leaves, they often have creamy white or yellow edges and a deep green center, making them a highly sought-after ornamental plant.
  2. Variegated Hoya Kerrii is a slow-growing plant sold as a single leaf cutting in small pots, which may not grow into a full vine unless a node is included.
  3. Given time and proper care, Variegated Hoya Kerrii can develop into a trailing or climbing plant with vines that grow several feet long, making it ideal for hanging baskets or trellises.
  4. While it can produce fragrant, star-shaped flowers in clusters, blooming is rare, especially in younger plants. Flowers are typically pale pink or white with a sweet scent.
  5. In the United States, it grows indoors; however, in Southern Hawaii and Florida, the variegated Hoya Kerrii grows outdoors.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Hoya kerrii variegated is a super cool tropical plant with heart-shaped leaves that have this awesome creamy white or yellow variegation. This variegated variety of Hoya kerrii is not only great for hanging baskets, but it's also a fantastic choice for vining up trellises or other supports. Its trailing nature allows it to gracefully drape down from hanging baskets, while its vines can be trained to climb up trellises, adding a beautiful touch to any space. While it might not flower a ton indoors, when it does, the flowers are these cute little star-shaped blooms in red, pale pink, or white that smell really nice. You can totally propagate it by taking stem cuttings and growing new plants.

So I will say I enjoyed the story, for sure had its moments where it dragged but it was a great story. I really liked that omegas picked their alphas/make the pack. Normally the Alphas make it and the omega fits in with them which is great but I enjoyed this new version where all the power basically went to the omega. It was a nice change of pace. I can admit some of the weird bedroom stuff with her being pregnant was odd, it’s really not hard to do stuff when pregnant (I know I’ve had two and it’s normal and even encouraged at the end especially if you want the baby out). But I like the story as a whole and will read the second, I do hope the next one isn’t dragged bc it stopped being action or tense after she met her alphas and I don’t think it was brought up or properly done when they tried to do it. More sweet after she left.

I’m a little disappointed.
Format: Kindle
I usually like Jillian West’s books but this one was missing a lot for me. The pregnancy didn’t come across as real. She’s on her feet for 12 hour days but is perfectly healthy at 8 months pregnant? Yet the week she moves in all of a sudden she’s not? She is planning on actually running during one of the plot buildups. But at 8 months pregnant that’s incredibly hard to do. The lack of breathing ability and lung space, the change in body center, mass, and gravity. All of it prohibits running, unless you’re an athlete this didn’t come off as at all realistic. I didn’t feel any connection with the alphas. There wasn’t any emotional connection. It could be because of the tense it was written in. But I didn’t get any deep feelings out of this. It came across as checking off boxes. Even the spicy scenes weren’t really believable for me. I wanted to see them fall for her, and it just kind of all fizzled. Even Bishop. One thing I did really like was the ending. I did not see it coming and I’m interested in reading book two because of it. But on the whole this book was mostly disappointing for me.

Vale is an 8 month pregnant omega working as a waitress at a strip club and a cam girl. She starts to get very creepy vibes from a regular at the club, and her baby daddy ghosted her. She has had an online relationship with a man named Bishop through her cam girl status. One night, bishop was paying to watch her sleep and ansthe creepy regular Andrew break in and watch her sleep he tells vale to come to him at his business now. She flees and finds herself at a large security company with some.hot of alphas who are there to help her. This imegaverse is a little different than I have read, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. Vale is not a traditional omega she was raised by a single beta mom, and the alphas are not normal alphas they have never really loved pack life. But they are ruthless mercenaries. They need her, and she needs them. I love the aspect of the stalker and now the plot twists at the end, so so good. Sometimes, it seemed a little slow and stale mated, but since this a duet, I think It was just her starting to have Vale get to know her alpha suitors. Cliffhanger for sure with this one.

That ending 😫
Format: Kindle
I fell into a false sense of security and really thought this was gearing towards a happy ending. Then I realized there’s no work they don’t punish Andrew. I really liked Vale’s character. I don’t normally read books with pregnancy but going into this knowing she was pregnant made it more enjoyable for me. I loved Bishops devotion to her and her happiness. I also loved that Holt and Mercy couldn’t fight their attraction to her. I love scent matches so very much. I’m so curious to see how this duet will end up. And I need to pay more attention and notice that a book I’m starting is a duet to begin with lol
