2HR Aquarist APT Zero | Balanced Aquarium Fertilizer for Low-Tech Planted Tanks.

The 2HR Aquarist APT Zero is a precision-formulated aquarium fertilizer designed specifically for low-tech and slow-growing planted tanks. Developed by The 2Hr Aquarist, this professional-grade nutrient solution provides all the essential micronutrients and minerals your aquatic plants need - without excess nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) - allowing aquascapers to maintain perfectly balanced, algae-free aquariums effortlessly.

APT Zero embodies the science of the renowned 2Hr Aquarist philosophy, promoting lush, healthy plant growth in aquariums that do not use CO₂ injection or have minimal nutrient demand. By eliminating unnecessary N and P while maintaining an optimal trace element profile, it ensures steady growth, deep coloration, and enhanced plant vitality without triggering nuisance algae.

This formula is ideal for tanks with a moderate fish load, as fish waste naturally provides sufficient nitrogen and phosphorus. APT Zero supplements the remaining essential nutrients - including potassium, iron, and trace minerals - that plants need to thrive and maintain their natural hues.

Key Features and Benefits:

  • Complete nutrient solution tailored for low-tech, non-CO₂ aquariums.

  • Zero Nitrogen and Phosphorus to prevent algae overgrowth.

  • Promotes strong root development and lush, healthy plant foliage.

  • Provides trace elements essential for balanced plant metabolism.

  • Prevents nutrient deficiencies that cause yellowing or melting leaves.

  • Suitable for fish-only tanks or aquariums with moderate bioloads.

  • Easy-to-dose, high-purity formulation made for long-term aquarium health.

Usage Instructions:

  • Dosage: Add 5ml per 100 liters of aquarium water daily or every alternate day, depending on plant density.

  • For best results: Maintain consistent dosing and good water circulation.

  • Regular water changes (30–50% weekly) are recommended for optimal balance.

  • Can be used alongside APT Pure, APT Start, and APT Fix for a complete aquarium care system.

Ideal For:

  • Low-tech planted aquariums.

  • Tanks without CO₂ supplementation.

  • Aquarists seeking a low-maintenance fertilization approach.

  • Beginners looking for a safe, effective nutrient balance solution.

Why Choose 2HR Aquarist APT Zero?
Unlike generic fertilizers, APT Zero uses a science-based nutrient ratio that supports vibrant, stable plant growth while keeping algae in check. It’s a result of extensive testing and field research by world-class aquascapers, ensuring the perfect harmony between plant nutrition, fish health, and water quality.

With APT Zero, you get professional-level results - lush greenery, balanced ecosystems, and a visually stunning aquascape - without the complexity of CO₂ injection or daily chemical adjustments.

Great as long as you know its limitations; runs warm; monitor settings may need to be changed
I reluctantly gave up MagSafe and joined the USB-C future when my employer issued me a new 2019 16" MacBook Pro. Searching for a way to connect my various peripherals I settled on this hub as a reasonable way to connect a 4K display, pass power from the laptop charger (albeit not the full 96W; macOS reports 79W after hub losses—good enough most of the time), connect 1GigE, and provide a few spare USB ports and occasionally-used SD card slots. I've learned a few things: A port that looks like USB-C does not pass video unless it is a "Thunderbolt" port (look for the lightning bolt logo, apparently); connecting a USB-C-to-mini-DisplayPort adapter to the USB-C port on this hub did not allow my monitor to work. Lesson learned. The HDMI port did work, and did pass 4K@60Hz, but only after I adjusted my monitor settings. At first I was convinced either my HDMI cable or this hub were defective, because macOS would only allow me to select 4K@30Hz. I have an LG 4K display, and from reading forums, one must enable 60Hz in the on-screen display menu before the monitor will tell the computer it is capable of displaying 60Hz video. For my monitor, that meant changing "Ratio" in "Quick Settings" to "Original" (it defaulted to "Wide", with a separate configuration for each port), as well as turning on "HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color" from "Picture" -> "Picture Adjust." After I changed those two settings, 60Hz was not available until I unplugged the HDMI cable from the hub and plugged it in again. After that I had buttery smooth 4K video at 60Hz. The hub works as advertised, at least for my configuration. The 1GigE port works well, and is equivalent to a direct USB-C to Ethernet adapter I tried. It does run warm to the touch as other reviewers have reported. That's not problematic, but I'd prefer it pass the missing 17W to the laptop rather than dissipate it as heat. Time will tell how well the hub holds up, but for now I'm happy. In summary: if you have a new Mac this hub will likely work for you, though you may need to adjust your monitor settings.

Older flash drives might not work.
Port labels are too faint to read easily and the PD out port isn't labelled (I suppose they thought it was obvious since it has a fixed cable). The USB ports are speedy except it won't recognize any of my several SanDisk Cruzer Glides. Others flash drives work okay. Works great as an iPhone USB C to TV HDMI converter.

Works as intended
I've been into emulators lately and this is a great HDMI out with charging capabilities to go with your high speed charging brick. Doesn't work for everything, but I can attest it works with the AYN Thor and a Google Pixel 8 Pro, and presumably higher end Pixels. Both have emulators and both come thru my TV just fine. Also works with Kodi. I tried to use wired controllers, but quickly figured I'm better off going Bluetooth on that route. I haven't tried file transfer or anything because all that mattered to me was getting it to the big screen. I'd rather have a docking stand for my needs, but freedom and flexibility isn't a bad thing for this device at a decent price and cheaper than a dock.

Versatile hub adds the ports my Mac lacks
This 7-in-1 USB C hub from Anker has made it easy to connect my laptop to all the devices I need. The HDMI port consistently outputs 4K video at 60Hz, while the USB 3.0 ports and SD/microSD slots transfer files quickly without errors. I appreciate that the pass-through charging allows me to power my MacBook while using the hub, and the unit itself feels solid and well made. It's truly plug-and-play, with no drivers to install, and it greatly expands the limited port selection on modern laptops. The only minor drawback is that the hub can get a little warm under heavy use, but overall it's a reliable, convenient accessory that I feel confident recommending.

Awesome USB-C Hub
My new MacBook Air has USB-C ports only, so I recently upgraded to this USB-C hub, a 7in1 Multi-Port USB-C Adapter, and it has completely solved all of my port needs. With the two USB-A ports, I can still use my old memory sticks, without replacing them, as well as two USB-C ports, all making moving files, movies and pictures, with ease. I needed something fast and reliability, and this little device delivers on both fronts. One of the USB-C ports it a power passthrough, which works great for charging device, like my MacBook Air. It is very easy to use, just plug and play, making it compatible with the MacBook Air. Also has a built in card reader, and a HDMI port, pretty much covering all your port needs. If you are looking for a well built, reliable, fast, and compact USB-C hub that can everything, this is the one to get. Highly recommended!
