Commonly referred to as the Bicolor Dragon Tree or Bicolor Dracaena, this cultivar belongs to the broader Dracaena marginata species, also known as the Madagascar Dragon Tree. The "Bicolor" name comes from its dramatic two-toned leaves, which display a rich green center edged with pinkish-red or burgundy margins. Its variegation is more subtle than the ‘Tricolor’ or ‘Kiwi’ varieties, but still provides vivid color and a bold vertical accent in any setting.

Native to the island of Madagascar off the southeastern coast of Africa, Dracaena marginata grows naturally in warm, semi-arid forests.

Although the ‘Bicolor’ variant is a cultivated hybrid, it retains the species’ natural tolerance for drought, variable light conditions, and poor soils, making it especially resilient and adaptable to indoor conditions around the world.

This tropical evergreen features slender, upright canes topped with dense tufts of long, narrow leaves.

The foliage of the ‘Bicolor’ is what sets it apart—long, pointed blades with clean green centers and striking red-to-pink margins that glow under bright, indirect light.

Over time, the lower leaves naturally shed, leaving behind bare stems that resemble a miniature palm or cane tree, making it ideal for vertical appeal in tight spaces.

When grown indoors, the Bicolor Dragon Tree typically reaches 4 to 6 feet tall, but with time and care, it may grow taller.

Outdoors in tropical climates or when grown in containers and moved seasonally, it can reach up to 8 feet or more.

Its slow growth rate makes it manageable and easy to shape with light pruning. While flowering is rare indoors, mature plants may occasionally produce small clusters of fragrant white flowers in optimal conditions. 

When it comes to Dracaena marginata ‘Bicolor’ care, it thrives in a well-drained  soil, opens in a new tab and prefers watering every 10–14 days during the growing season (spring to summer), allowing the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. In fall and winter, water only once every 2–3 weeks.

Indoors, it grows best in temperatures between 65°F and 80°F, with at least 6 hours of bright, indirect light daily.

Outdoors, it should be grown in USDA Zones 10–12, where it prefers partial shade or filtered sunlight to prevent leaf scorch.

Fertilize once a year during spring using a balanced liquid NPK fertilizer diluted to half strength.

Occasional pruning of yellowing or lower leaves helps maintain its clean form, and taller plants can be cut back to encourage bushier growth.

Unlike many colorful houseplants that require precise humidity or specialized light, this Dragon Tree variant is remarkably forgiving. I bought 4 chairs for my table. Easy to put together. The arms are too short. They move too much and there is no way to lock the arms in place. The worse thing is the material used to cover the arms. It is sticky. Each chair has the same problem so I took a pair of socks to cover the arms. So, you should offer custom arm covers and a way to lock the arms. For the weight allowed the pneumatic support that holds and adjusts the height of the seat holds me quite well. The wheels stick out beyond the seat circumference so everyday I run into them as I go to sit down but it is a good thing as you can be seated and you are not going to flip over if you bend down from the seat to reach for something on the floor. The seat itself should be able to accommodate a person of a larger size a big man. It is like you made the chair for little people that weigh a lot (narrow seat, short arms, vs. a large wheel span and powerful the pneumatic pump). The neck support requires a pillow. Without the pillow my head and neck do not rest on the mesh. Regarding comfort, I sit in the chair for a lot of time each day. Although it feels a bit hard the seat is fairly comfortable. It would be more comfortable if it were bigger. I purchased these chairs because of the welcoming way the company describes itself, therefore, I hope they will make some changes to improve the chair. I would not buy them if I had the chance again, not without improvements made. I don't need four more chairs, so, I will live with my purchase. If the chairs already had those improvements my opinion would be different. They may be perfect for someone else of a different body type (and age).

Finally a Chair That Fits and Feels Great

I recently purchased the Marsail Ergonomic Office Chair, and overall, I couldn’t be happier with it. First off, assembly was incredibly simple. It took me about 30 minutes from start to finish, and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. All the parts were well packaged, and I didn’t run into any issues putting it together. For reference, I’m 6'2" and about 275 pounds, and this chair fits me very well. As a bigger guy, finding a chair that feels supportive and appropriately sized can be a challenge, but this one hits the mark. The seat is roomy without feeling oversized, and the overall build feels sturdy and solid. Comfort-wise, it’s been excellent. I work from home and spend about 8–9 hours a day in this chair, five days a week. The thick cushion seat really makes a difference, it stays comfortable throughout the day and doesn’t feel like it’s flattening out after hours of use. I also really like the mesh back. It provides good support while allowing airflow, which helps keep me cool during long work sessions. The only feature I wish it had is a recline lock at multiple angles. Currently, it only locks in the fully upright position. It would be great to be able to lock it slightly reclined for more flexibility during long workdays. That said, for the price, ease of assembly, and all-day comfort, this chair delivers tremendous value. I’m giving the Marsail Ergonomic Office Chair 5 stars and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, supportive office chair, especially if you’re on the taller or bigger side like me.
